Smoky Hill UMC rethinks Lent with unique art project

The congregation at Smoky Hill United Methodist Church took on a special project during Lent this year. They made and shared prayer flags. Prayer flags been part of many religions. They are simply visual representations of prayers and it is thought that when they were hung outside the wind would carry the prayers to God. The Gallery Committee at Smoky Hill United Methodist Church came up with the idea to ask the congregation to join us in making prayer flags during Lent. Read more

United Methodist News Service highlights Rev. Rebekah Simon-Peter's 'green' gospel, vision for creation care

The Rev. Rebekah Simon-Peter began to understand that, for her, taking care of the world is not just an ecological issue, but a moral and spiritual issue.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for the family of the Rev. William "Mac" McGrew on the passing of his mother, Betty Louise Starr McGrew, on March 25. A memorial service was held March 30 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. McGrew is currently pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Casper, Wyoming. Condolences may be sent to Rev. William "Mac" McGrew, 1045 S. Missouri Ave., Casper, WY 82609 or [email protected]. Donations may also be given at any Wells Fargo Bank to the Betty McGrew Memorial. Betty was a two-time breast cancer survivor.

General Conference 2016
Petition submissions, event volunteers sought

The United Methodist Church's General Conference will be held May 10 to 20, 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Go to the General Conference 2016 page online for more information on how to submit petitions for consideration and how to become a volunteer at the event.

Missionary Focus
Help East Angola Missionary Ken Koome buy a truck

Kenneth Koome Nkando is a missionary of the General Board of Global Ministries assigned as the mission financial officer in the East Angola Annual Conference in Africa. Koome has been in Angola for more than a year rebuilding ministries and facilities after Angola's long civil war. Koome needs a truck to haul building materials, transport visiting mission teams, and help transport pastors serving very remote churches. The Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone conferences are teaming up to buy a truck for Ken. The Rocky Mountain Conference has committed to raise $12,000.
