Utah Churches Pack 10,800 Meals for Stop Hunger Now
On Sept. 16 during Mission Week at Community UMC in Ogden, UT, about 60 people from First UMC and Community UMC joined together to pack 10,800 meals for Stop Hunger Now. Each meal costs $0.29 and feeds six people. They will decide in late October the destination for the meals, which will be a place where children gather for school so they will be educated and fed. It was a great opportunity for people to come together and serve others less fortunate while having a great time.

Webcast of Symposium on Sand Creek Massacre: 150 Year Remembrance
The National Museum of the American Indian and the National Park Service are co-sponsoring a one-day symposium on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. that will commemorate the 150-year anniversary of the Sand Creek Massacre that occurred on Nov. 29, 1864. The symposium will include three panels of Sand Creek Massacre scholars, including Cheyenne and Arapaho descendants. The highlight of the symposium will be a film debut of "The Sand Creek Massacre and the Civil War" presented by the National Park Service. A webcast of the symposium will be available at the National Museum of the American Indian website.

Rocky Mountain UM Foundation: The Benefits of Year-End Giving
The time is upon us to consider the tax benefits available through charitable contributions. Gifts of cash, real estate, or stock allow donors to enjoy the benefits of a charitable tax deduction. Cash or appreciated property given as a charitable gift annuity not only provides tax benefits, but fixed age-based payments for life to the donor.

Your Rocky Mountain United Methodist Foundation invites you to print and share the brochure titled The Benefits of Year-End Giving, available on the Foundation's website at www.rm-umf.org/brochures.html. Encourage people to use the year-end tax savings checklist to help them achieve their charitable giving goals. For additional ideas and information about the Foundation's free services, visit www.RMUMF.org.

Buckhorn United Methodist Camp Celebrates 50th Anniversary - Oct. 12

On Sunday, Oct. 12, Buckhorn United Methodist Camp will celebrate its 50th anniversary! Come join us in remembering the past, enjoying the present and dreaming with us about the future. Everyone is welcome. We'll have a morning service at 11 a.m., a barbecue lunch from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., a gathering and message at 1:30 p.m., and all kinds of camp fun in-between. There is no cost, but we hope you might consider supporting either the facilities or recreational development of camp (that you might give to help us build fun activities or better facilities for all). If you can make it, please send a very short e-mail to [email protected] with the number of people coming so we can make food service plans. For more information, go to www.buckhorncamp.org.
