Colorado Flood Recovery Updates

Earlier this month, volunteer mission teams from St. Luke's UMC in Highlands Ranch were featured in two local Sterling newspapers. The volunteer teams were organized by the Rocky Mountain Conference's Flood Recovery Team Volunteer Coordinator, Deb Campbell. Deb visited the teams in Sterling while they were hard at work and said she's never seen such a group of dedicated, determined and kind-hearted young people. The flood survivors whom the volunteer teams were helping expressed the same sentiments. See the full articles in the Sterling Journal-Advocate and in the South Platte Sentinel. Grants for Financial Ministry

What is a financial ministry - something that encourages stewardship and generosity?

Yes - but even more: it could include visioning, capacity building, capital campaigns, or even a new ministry that will bring life and energy to your community of faith. Your Rocky Mountain United Methodist Foundation is here to serve the community of United Methodists in the Rocky Mountain Conference with a grant to get some new things started, or to bring new life to some old things. Give us your ideas for this 50% matching grant opportunity. Visit http://www.rm-umf.org/docs/Grant.pdf to learn more.

Resources to Respond to Border Crisis
United Methodist churches and agencies as well as United Methodist Women institutions are providing humanitarian assistance and hospitality to the great numbers of women and children who are coming across the border from Central American countries. The immigrants are motivated by violence and poverty in their home countries and the hope that they will be allowed to stay here. New resources offer suggestions on what churches and individuals can do in response to this situation, from ways to help the children to a sample letter to the editor.
