Board Member Spotlight
DAVE WEAVER

Douglas County Commissioner David A. Weaver has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Douglas County Educational Foundation (DCEF) Board of Trustees for the upcoming academic year. He succeeds Amy Sherman who successfully shepherded the Foundation for two (2) consecutive terms.

Weaver's career has been one of service to Douglas County having spent 32 years with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, including nine years as the County's top law enforcement officer. His tenure as Sheriff was one marked with strong fiscal accountability, service excellence, integrity, and community partnerships.

In his position as County Commissioner, Weaver is engaged in an array of issues including economic development, transportation, water use, and education. "My devotion to this county and our citizens runs deep. Douglas County is my home, and I want to protect the quality of our county for my kids and grand kids....I believe in a healthy balanced approach to maintain the lifestyles we enjoy - preserving the beauty of our rural, agricultural and ranching areas while focusing on quality but sustained growth in the urban corridors. It is vital that we work together to preserve our heritage for future generations," said Weaver.

In addition to serving on the DCEF Board of Trustees, Weaver has also served as a former Parker Rotarian, Castle Rock Kiwanis Club member, Castle Pines Chamber Board of Directors Chairman, and Douglas County Fair Board member.

DCEF Executive Director, Jason Christensen said he looks forward to working with Commissioner Weaver in the upcoming year. "Dave, like all of our Board members, has a heart for our kids and schools. As a former Sheriff and current County Commissioner, he understands how important our school district is to the health and success of Douglas County and he'll be a tremendous advocate for the Foundation and our beneficiaries, the students.

Weaver and his wife of 30 years, Mona, live in Parker and have three sons and two grandchildren.
