| DCEF Makes $85,000 Grant to the DC Outdoor Ed Center |
This month, the Douglas County Educational Foundation donated $90,000 to the Douglas County Outdoor Education Center. "DCEF is awesome and they are really, truly filling a need we have for kids. This is a one-time investment that will last a lifetime," said Denny Ingram, Director of the Center. In 2011 the Douglas County Commissioners purchased the Emily Griffith Opportunity Center outside of Larkspur, with a vision of entering into a partnership with the Douglas County School District to provide students with the opportunity for local outdoor education. Since the grand opening in August 2012, thousands of students, teachers and staff have benefitted from outdoor learning and team building experiences at the center. The DCEF grant will fund health and safety upgrades as well as the construction of a new pavilion. Click here for more on the center. |

Groove Auto joins DCEF in providing iPads to Sedalia students
|
 | | Robert Farnett, Groove Auto and Sedalia Elementary Principal George Boser |
Thanks to a grant made possible by DCEF and Groove Auto, Sedalia Elementary students are using the latest technology tools in the classroom this year. Members of the DCEF board along with representatives from Groove visited classrooms this month and celebrated student learning.
Groove Auto's Drive For Education foundation is a program which takes a portion of the vehicle sales and disperses those funds to local schools who are in need. It's a forward-thinking program created by the employees of Groove Auto as a way to make an impact in local neighborhoods where they work and live. Their commitment has helped neighborhood schools improve facilities, equipment, and classrooms aides thus far. And they say they are just getting started. "Groove Auto's commitment to the Douglas County School District through our Drive for Education program is driven by our desire to give back to the schools within our community and have a direct impact on students and teachers. Enriching the lives of the Douglas County youth is as much a priority to Groove as it is rewarding to all members of our team and their families," said Rob Meador, Vice President, Groove Auto.

Support the DCEF on Colorado Gives Day! On Tuesday, December 10, Coloradans will come together again to raise millions of dollars for nonprofits like ours. Last year, a remarkable $15.7 million was distributed to participating Colorado nonprofits. The DCEF will be raising funds for the Fill the Gap Grant program and other initiatives of the Foundation. Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day asks you to give to your favorite charities through the website ColoradoGives.org. On this website we share our goals, accomplishments and much more. 100 percent of your donation will come to us. When you give online any time on December 10, the value of your donation will be increased by the FirstBank Incentive Fund, which will provide an additional $250,000 to participating non-profits. Donate online here any time during the 24-hr. period of Dec. 10 to "Give where you live!". |
