8th Grade Career Expo Connects Kids with Careers

CCExpo

The DCEF-sponsored "Career Connect 8th Grade Expo" will be held on Wednesday, November 13. We are recruiting Douglas County and Metro-Denver area employers to participate by providing an interactive, interesting booth for 8th grade students to visit at the Expo to learn about future careers.

The Expo is a county-wide effort, with students from 21 middle schools in the Douglas County School District participating. The event will draw over 4,800 students throughout the day. Last year, over 75 companies and organizations participated in the Expo, to the appreciation of our students and middle school staff. More information is found online here

A small number of event volunteers are needed on November 12 and 13. If you are interested in helping with event logistics, please email krista.zizzo@dcsdk12.org

DCSD School Supply Drive Fills the Need

SupplyDrive

As the 2013 School Supply Drive comes to a close the Foundation is pleased and very thankful to announce that more than 600 students received supplies to start off the school year on the right foot.  More than 75 organizations and individuals teamed up with the DCEF, the Panther Pantry, Leadership Douglas County and the Douglas / Elbert Task Force to collect and distribute more than $32,000 in needed school supplies.  This major undertaking would not have been possible without the help of more than 60 volunteers who worked hundreds of hours to accomplish this mission.  To view a complete list of our partners or to place a supply order for a student or your class please click on this link or go to our website at www.dcefcolorado.org.

The Douglas County Educational Foundation (DCEF) was established to develop private resources to enrich education within Douglas County Schools for the fulfillment of lifelong learning experiences of our of our students, citizens and community.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY

The Panther Pantry is a unique Chapter of the DCEF. A volunteer run food pantry that now feeds over 270 hungry school-aged children in Douglas County, the Pantry was started in 2008 at Acres Green Elementary School. As the winter months approach, the Pantry is in need of funds and food to provide its 125+ families with their monthly food distributions. The Panther Pantry receives no government funding to provide its services and relies on donations from the public. If your Chapter, school, company or organization can help by hosting a food drive, fund raiser or provide a monetary contribution, please contact Jennifer Zander, Director, at 720-381-6169 or dcpantherpantry@gmail.com. To read the full article on the Panther Pantry and its needs, click here
