DCSD School Supply Drive Fills the Need
|
 The goal of the DCEF School Supply Drive is that all children in the District start the school year with basic school supplies to ensure their success in the classroom. This summer's program saw an increase in the number of Douglas County organizations participating in the Drive including individuals, community clubs, service organizations, corporations and retailers large and small. The DCEF is still receiving donations and school supply requests, and to date volunteers have contributed over 150 hours filling 575 backpacks for students. More than 15,700 school supply items (valued at $22,000) and $3,000 in cash has been received so far. None of this could have been possible without the tremendous effort of our School Supply Drive partners - the Panther Pantry, Leadership Douglas County, the Lone Tree Giving Tree, Douglas County Libraries, Douglas County Safeway stores and the Douglas / Elbert Task Force. New Tradition Marks Beginning of School Year

Marking their last year and a new era at Chaparral High School, the school's class of 2014 celebrated a new tradition, gathering for the first-ever Senior Sunrise. As it turned out, the sun didn't make an appearance, but the event was certainly a success for both the students and their new principal, Greg Gotchey.

Career Connect Expo Set for November!
|
The Career Connect 8th Grade Expo is a one day event for all eighth grade students in the Douglas County School District to experience meeting with businesses and higher education representatives. It will be held on Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the Douglas County Events Center in Castle Rock. The Expo was created last year for the Douglas County School District by a group of business leaders and education professionals. The Douglas County School District lends its support to the event and will be sending 4,800+ 8th grade students from all neighborhood middle schools and several Charter Schools to attend the Expo. We are currently recruiting employers to attend the Expo in November and also volunteers to help with the event. For more information, visit the Expo website.
