Welcome back to Ringette Season!
President's Message

Welcome all of you to the 2014-2015 season. I am honored to greet you as the new president of the Manitoba Ringette Association. I know you are all busy getting the season up and running. I look forward to meeting many of you in the rinks, community centres, malls, and meeting rooms over the next few months.

As a voice for athletes, and administrators I along with the Board of Directors and Office Staff are excited to see what is in store for us in ringette in Manitoba and across the country. No matter what age or skill level, a season full of fun and competition await us. Development, learning, participation and evaluation bring new experiences, and warm familiar feelings of seasons of the past. I encourage you to communicate your ideas, your passions, and your suggestions to us so we can continue to keep and enhance this wonderful sport we love.

Cheers to all of you on a successful season,

Carol Mydlo, President

Manitoba Ringette Association

Open 1 Elite Replaces NRL

For the 2014-2015 season, Manitoba Ringette is undertaking a new venture at the Open level.  With the decision in 2013 to suspend NRL participation, there was no specific opportunity available for the best Open players to play at an elite level. This season has seen the creation of the Open 1 Elite league.

In mid September, an elimination tournament was held to identify the four strongest Open 1 teams.  As the tournament progressed, it became evident that there were six strong teams at this level. First and sixth in the standings were separated by only four points.  The decision was made to include all six teams in the league.  Defending Open 1 champion, Lightning, finished first but received a very stiff challenge from the other teams.

Open 1 Elite teams will play an interlocking schedule with the U19AA teams and will also play once each against the Canada Winter Games team.
