Provincials are over and the reps for the Canadian Ringette Championships and Western's are set. Three weekends of exciting ringette finished on March 2nd at Keith Bodley arena.

In the U14 group, the Wild edged the Angels to earn a spot in the bronze game against the Magic. After a hard fought three game series, Magic emerged victorious to take on the Flames for gold. After three more hard fought contests, Flames won earning the right to represent Manitoba at Western's as Team Manitoba. Magic will also be in Western's as Host.

At the U16 level, Flames beat the Magic in two straight games in the preliminary round. It set up a showdown with Angels for gold. The final series was hard fought and went to overtime in the third game before Angels captured gold. Angels go to CRC as Team Manitoba but Flames also earned a spot.

At the U19 level, the third place Flames upset the Angels in the preliminary round in three games. The Flames then took on the defending champion Magic. That series also went to three games. Magic took the third game to earn gold. Magic goes to CRC as Team Manitoba while Flames also earn a spot.

Manitoba Winter Games Results

Manitoba Winter Games Logo
The Access Events Centre in Morden was a beehive of ringette activity from March 3 to 5 during the Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games.

Athletes from almost every corner of Manitoba came to represent their regions in the ringette competition. Westman, Eastman, Norman, Interlake, Central and Winnipeg regions were all represented. Because Winnipeg is such a highly populated region, it had two squads - Blue and Gold. Participating players were in the U14 age group.

Norman, Central and Westman made up the Smart division while Interlake, Eastman, Winnipeg Blue and Winnipeg Gold made up the Power. Preliminary round games were Monday and Tuesday morning. Playoff games were Tuesday and the final was Wednesday morning.

The competition featured spirited play and lots of good ringette. Two games went into overtime and several others were one goal games.
Medal winners were: Gold - Winnipeg Gold; Silver - Interlake; Bronze - Eastman

The ringette competition was great and the Games experience was memorable for all.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the AGM being called to order at 9 a.m. Any member who wishes to have new business placed on the agenda for the AGM will give written notice to the MRA at least ten (10) days prior to the AGM or upon the sole discretion of the President or designate.

This proposal must be submitted in writing to the Association's Board of Directors (and to the office) at least forty-five (45) days prior to the meeting at which it is to be considered. The proposed amendment will be presented to the Annual General Meeting or Special Meetings. No amendment to the By-Laws of the Association shall be accepted from the floor at any meeting.
Make a difference - Join a Board

Players are able to enjoy the game of ringette thanks in large part to the efforts of volunteers that make up boards at the local, league and provincial level. At the end of the season, many boards find themselves seeking new members.

The MRA encourages those with a desire to share their passion, time and skills to provide input and guidance for programs and policies.

Ringette board turnover provides an excellent opportunity for new members with fresh perspectives to get involved in the decision making process that directly affects either themselves and/or their children. An ideal board will have representatives from a varied cross-section of the ringette community, from young to old, recreational to elite levels of play, urban and rural areas. Without an effective board in place, direction of the sport is lost and programs suffer. If you are looking to get involved, the MRA is holding elections for the following board positions:
  • President
  • Director of Player Development
  • Director of Publicity
  • Director of Officiating
  • Director of Urban/Rural Development
  • Director of Games and Tournaments (currently vacant)
Nominations for MRA Board Positions must be submitted to the MRA no later than 7 days prior to the MRA AGM.  Nominations will not be accepted from the floor unless a nominee has not been brought forward by the Nominating Committee.
