Presidents Message
Well, another summer has almost come and gone. It's time to gear up for another amazing Ringette season.
Since the end of the 2012 - 2013 season, the administrative side our sport has been running at full speed. In my almost 30 year association with our sport, I have never seen or been involved in so many meetings during the summer months. This a positive sign that ringette is not just a September to April thought in our minds. My thanks to those who gave up precious summer evenings to ensure the progress we have made continues to happen.
Our first AGM under the new governance model of a policy board was held in June. The impacts were immediately noticeable with a compacted agenda and more time available to talk about the business side of amateur sport. My thanks to all members for stepping up to the challenge of change and the courage to move to a more efficient business model.
At the AGM, I indicated that as a secondary step in the revamp of MRA governance, we would hold a governance review. I have formed a committee to handle this review over the course of the 2013-2014 season. The committee will be made up of 3 board members and 3 members from the general ringette population. The 3 board members are Don Kozun, Tamiko Hisinaga and Morgan Jones. Allison Atkey from APFG has volunteered to sit on the committee. We are looking for 2 more people to sit on the committee. Please canvas your areas for possible candidates.
Our new board met on July 15th to deal with some outstanding business as a result of the AGM. The new WRL representative on the MRA board is Paul Shipman. Our new VP is Allison Jones and our new Director of High Performance is Jim Feasby. Welcome all.
Please read the remainder of this newsletter to catchup on the latest information. Pay specific attention to the important dates section for events that may interest you. Also, visit us at our MRA web site, http://www.manitobaringette.ca or for those interested in Ringette 4 U http://www.ringette4u.ca .
Enjoy the rest of your summer and start thinking RINGETTE.

MRA Gears Up For The Fall Launch Of Ringette 4 U
Representatives from the MRA have been busy attending parent town hall and local association meetings across the province promoting .and describing their new Ringette 4 U program; the concept was developed by a workshop group with representation from all different areas of Manitoba.
Ringette 4 U is the innovative proudly Manitoba designed program that focuses on teaching FUNdamental Ringette skills and promoting physical movement in children aged 3 - 8. Every session is led by Certified MRA Instructors who are trained in how to teach skills to children.
The goal of Ringette 4 U is to keep kids participating, involved and having FUN during every lesson and game throughout the year. There are 3 learning stages in the program to make sure that every child is entering the program at the right stage for them. With the ability to move up stages as they progress through the year we are ensuring that every child is being challenged with new things to learn and congratulated on even their smallest successes! We want every child to tell their parent that it's time to go to Ringette. For more information on Ringette 4 U visit our website at www.ringette4u.ca or attend a town hall parent information session in your area.
