Manitoba Successes at the CRC's

The Canadian Ringette Championships were held in Fredericton this past week.  This event is a grueling marathon of games with teams potentially playing up to 11 games in six short days.  It truly tests our athletes endurance and skills against the top teams in the country.
  CRC 2013 Picture 2
Manitoba sent two teams at U16 AA (Magic-Team MB and Angels), U19 AA (Magic-Team MB and Angels) and our own NRL team, Prairie Fire.  All the teams did amazingly well with two of our teams, U19 Team Manitoba and Prairie Fire, making it to the Gold finals on Saturday April 6th and are other U19 Team, Angels, making it to the Bronze medal game.

All three teams had a hard fought final game and we are proud of them all.  U19 Team Manitoba and Prairie Fire both came home with Silver.

Manitoba athletes have proven themselves on a National scale and we are only getting better.   Next years CRC's are in Regina, a short 6 hour drive and a great opportunity to see the best ringette in Canada if not the world !

For more information and results of the CRC's this year in Fredericton, visit Ringette Canada's Website.

Manitoba Winter Games
Ringette is very pleased to be part of the 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games being hosted by Morden-Stanley-Winkler.  Our sport's competition takes place during Phase 1 - March 2nd to 5th in Morden.  The Power Smart Winter Games are the Province's largest ongoing multi-sport event.  They are held every two years, alternating between summer and winter sports and involve upwards of 1800 participants at the provincial level who are selected from thousands of others at qualifying events across the Province in the year leading up to the event.

The 2014 Games will be open to U14 girls (born in 2000, 2001 or 2002 - U14AA players are not eligible).  Each region will select only one team from all girls registered with the birth years listed.  Those who are selected to represent their region will then compete against top players from all the other regions in the province where they will be able to showcase their skills and talents in a multi-faceted, multi-sport environment.

Regional camps run in April and May and more information found here.  Coaches applications are now available on our MRA website and are due June 7, 2013.

Ringette Flash Mob

What is a flash mob you may ask?  It is a group of people who without notice, assemble suddenly in a public place, perform for a brief time and then quickly disperse.  Check out the first ever Ringette Flash Mob performed by 150 performers during intermission of a Ringette game in Vancouver catching both the Athletes and Fans by surprise.

Winkler Camp
Winkler Cabin

Summer Ringette Camp is full, and a waiting list has been started.  If you are able to volunteer your time as a cabin mom it would open up more spots for girls to participate.

If you are interested in registering your child please send an application and cheque to the MRA office and we will place your child's name on the waiting list in the event more spaces become available.  If you are volunteering to be a cabin mom your application will be given priority.

Manitoba Proud

As the Executive Director for the MRA I would like to say how extremely proud I am of all our teams that participated in the CRC's and NRL Championship.  To come home with two Silver medals (Team Manitoba U19 Magic and Prairie Fire, a fourth place finish (Angels U19) and a good showing for our two U16 teams, is certainly something to be proud of.  All five teams represented our Province with class and displayed outstanding sportsmanship; you would not find better ambassadors for Manitoba.  I'd also like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all our AA & NRL coaches, managers and trainers for their dedication to our sport and the untold number of hours they dedicated to their teams.  Certainly last but not least, a big shout out to all those parents for their unwavering support of their daughters at the CRC's, it was unbelievable to witness the support they provided.  It certainly did not go unnoticed, thank you.
