Join us in raising awareness for child abuse prevention in the Greenville Community. Throughout the month of April, you will see blue pinwheels across Greenville and the Upstate. The blue pinwheel, which is the national symbol for child abuse prevention, represents the happy, healthy childhood every child deserves. These pinwheels also serve to remind us of these sad facts:
- Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions and at all levels of education.
- A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds.
- More than 80% of child maltreatment fatalities involve at least one parent as perpetrator.
- More than four children die every day as a result of child abuse.
This month you have an opportunity to increase the awareness of child abuse and neglect. For more information, special events and how you can help, check out: Project Pinwheel.
