Resident Car Wash
Our teen girls are learning to "give back" and have recently been spending time volunteering at the Diamond Health and Rehab Center of Simpsonville. They came up with the idea to host a car wash to raise funds for the Rehab Center and would like to invite you to support their cause by getting your car washed on May 24th. With the money they earn, the girls will be purchasing toiletry items, BINGO prizes, and making gift baskets for the elderly residents of the Center.
What: Car Wash
When: May 24
Time: 10am - 1pm
Where: Chick-Fil-A
1225 Woodruff Rd.

Celebrating Foster Care Awareness Month!
Join us in celebrating National Foster Care Month! In 1988, the month of May was chosen to recognize the commitment and sacrifice of foster parents who open their homes to children who have suffered abuse or neglect. Today, we continue to celebrate the generosity of our foster parent community, while also raising awareness of the life and needs of children in foster care.
Did you know?
On any given day, there are approximately 3,335 South Carolina children in foster care.

"Life in Limbo"
The Experiences of Children in Foster Care
Have you ever wondered what life might be like as a child living in foster? What about life as a foster parent? Recently, Pendleton Place staff, board, and community friends participated in the "Life in Limbo" simulation, which allows participants to experience what it might be like to be a part of the foster care system. Whether we simulated the life of a child or an adult, it was a powerful and thought-provoking lesson. Take a few minutes to watch the video below that gives a sneak peak into this 1.5 hour simulation. You won't want to miss it!

Have You Spotted A Great Volunteer Lately? We Have!
It's Volunteer Spotlight time and we want to highlight the great work of Benefitfocus during the month of April! Our friends at Benefitfocus spent an afternoon at Pendleton Place preparing the playground for summer time fun for our little ones! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to make an impact at PPCF. The playground looks amazing and is ready for lots of playtime! There's Nothing Better Than Lunch With Old Friends! In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, we held a luncheon to thank former board members for their time, talent and treasures provided during their tenure as Board of Directors. It is through the strength of those who came before us that enabled us to bring Pendleton Place to where we are today. The luncheon was attended by former board members, current board members, and staff. Former Board members in attendance were: Troy Baldree, Stacy Brandon, Stephanie Brown, Sarah Clemmons, Tina DeBondt, Whit Jordan, Kyna Jordan, Addy Matney, Ellen Wall, Bill Wheless and David White. Thanks for stopping by to revisit the fruit of your efforts!
Tours were taken, discussions were had, questions were answered and lunch was shared among great conversation. Everyone expressed their admiration for the transformation and growth of the organization over the years! |
