CUBAN MUSICIANS -  IMAGE C/O CROSS CULTURAL JOURNEYS FOUNDATION

JOIN ME IN CUBA 2013

Over the last month, I worked with Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation, a leading international travel operator and registered 501 c 3 nonprofit, to design a photo cultural "People To People" tour in Cuba this Fall. Our program is approved by the U.S. Government through a special license that Cross Cultural Journeys maintains. Cross Cultural Journeys has designed and operated acclaimed programs in Cuba for over fifteen years.

The itinerary for our trip is broken into two parts - a nine day base program with a five day optional extension. The base trip starts on the morning of October 27th with a flight from Miami to Havana, Cuba. I plan to arrive in Miami no later than October 26th. An overview for the trip is provided through the link below:

In addition to my support, highly experienced, local guides are engaged throughout the program. Most evenings are intentionally structured with an open, flexible schedule for small groups to experience home meals, the ballet, sporting events, and other cultural and artistic interests. Photography, music, walking tours, architectural reviews, history presentations, and a rich blend of community and personal interaction are planned throughout the tour.

This is designed as a trip for passionate travelers who may or may not have an deep interest in photography. There will be opportunities for photography exploration and instruction as well as other travel experiences.

We are staying in and near Havana for a major portion of the base trip which allows us to settle into a small number of hotels and touch a bit more depth with the people in this city and region. We are currently booked in the Hotel Florida for our time in Havana.

We plan to limit the trip to ten to sixteen guests.

Please let me know if you are interested. Eight guests have asked to hold spots already. For more information on reservations, please contact me or call Carla White (Operations Manager for Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation) at: 415.332.0682

SPOTLIGHT - ANYA MALKIEL

Anya Malkiel is a gifted, professional jazz singer. She grew up in Russia and established a strong following before immigrating to the U.S. where she built her professional business career (VISA) and continued to develop her music.

She recently produced and published her first major CD titled: "From The Heart."

Anya asked me to work with her to produce a portrait for the CD cover (shown above). Liz Fanlo, my cousin, supported this project with make-up and hair.  Tamisie Honey, one of Anya's good friends, assisted. Another friend, Jean Orlebeke, who leads Obek Designs, created the graphics for the packaging.

Anya's voice is quite soulful and beautiful. The CD will be available on Amazon other digital distribution systems in the near future.

Anya often sings at sites throughout the Bay Area. If you enjoy jazz and wish to sample her songs, please link to her site and schedule updates:

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP IN S.F.

I have been asked to offer another photography workshop. If there is enough interest, I will produce a new version of the two day photography program I have taught about ten times.  The preliminary dates are set for Saturday and Sunday, June 8th and 9th. Please let me know if you wish to join the program.

If you are searching for an overview of digital photography, this two day program will be of great value.

The class combines short presentations, interactive discussions, hundreds of sample images, and a range of hands-on exercises (a chance to work with your own camera) to convey principles and practical learning for landscape, portrait, travel, and fine art photography.

FOURTH OF JULY DREAMS

The two day program is scheduled in San Francisco (final location TBD) from 8:30 AM to 5 PM on both days.

An overview of the course, pricing information, and other details are provided on this PDF ...
