CCC is part of t
he Online Western New York Learning (OWL) alliance consists of five State University of New York (SUNY) community colleges working together to ensure student success in online learning.

Through OWL, students are fully matriculated (enrolled) in one of the five member OWL colleges, but are able to take online classes from the other schools to best fit their busy schedules.

OWL enables working adults to effectively and affordably earn an online degree or certificate by seamlessly pooling courses completed with any one or any combination of OWL member colleges.

The five OWL colleges are Corning Community College, Erie Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, Genesee Community College, and Monroe Community College.

Together, we provide an affordable opportunity for students to earn a SUNY associate degree or certificate in any of 35 academic areas.

Jessica Benninger

Director, Residence Life

jmoore24@corning-cc.edu

Originally from Wheaton, IL, Jessica earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University in Muncie, IN.

Serving as a Resident Director at Binghamton University in a break housing residence hall that was mostly freshman, athletes and international students for two years, Jessica was promoted to Community Director. For a year and a half, she oversaw a 650 bed apartment complex for upper-class students.

Seeking a new challenge, Jessica was attracted to Corning Community College and the thought of building a residence life department from the ground up while helping CCC transition to a new stage in its history.

"I believe it is an exciting time at CCC. Our first group of residential students will help pave the way for the future," stated Jessica. "Opportunities are endless for what it could mean to live on-campus. Students will have more time to engage in the College community and residential experience. Faculty and staff are thrilled to have students in-residence. Students, faculty, staff, and community members will see many new events with student input playing an integral part in the planning process."

An Opening Day event for those residing in Perry Hall will be held on Sunday, August 25. Will you be among the first to experience residential living in Perry Hall? If so, be sure to watch for Opening Day schedule of activities and roommate/suitemate assignments.

There's still time for you to become one of the 320 students to resident in Perry Hall for the Fall 2013 semester.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to complete all items from the  Housing Checklist in order for your room assignment to be made.

Is There a Fire In You?g

Would you or someone you know like a FREE associate's degree while playing an important role in the safety of your community? We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for volunteer firefighters choosing to pursue an associate's degree. The Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) launched its Higher Education Learning Plan (HELP) for community college tuition reimbursement to eligible volunteer firefighters.

This historic initiative is designed for a student/volunteer firefighter who hasn't already achieved an associate's degree or higher to be eligible to have up to 100% of his/her tuition reimbursed in exchange for maintaining good grades and fulfilling service requirements as a member in good standing in one of New York's volunteer fire companies. There is no restriction on the type of academic course(s) that the FASNY HELP student/volunteer firefighter can pursue on a full- or part-time basis.

FASNY HELP funds can be utilized for tuition costs incurred in the fall and spring semesters. Eligible student/volunteers must maintain acceptable volunteer activity and training levels during and for a period after their entire course of study. They must attend the closest community college or one within a 50-mile radius of their residence.

The deadline for volunteer firefighters to apply for tuition reimbursement for the fall semester is October 1 and spring is February 1. FASNY's goal is to attract and maintain 15,189 new firefighters over the next four years.

For those interested in applying for FASNY HELP, email HELP@FASNY.com or call (855)367-6933. The FASNY HELP Handbook which includes all necessary forms is online at www.fasny.com.
