The Finer Things of Life
Adriana Encelon '03 has brought the theater back to Serra in a big way. She has directed superb performances of Cinderella, 2nd Class, Fiddler on the Roof, Class Action, Grease, etc.
The Serra Spring 2017 Performances of Aladdin Jr. will take place on Thursday evening May 12 at 7:00PM, Saturday evening May 14, at 7:00 and the special Alumni performance on Sunday, May 15 at 2:00PM.
For the last 5 years, Serra Alumni and Faculty are invited especially for the Sunday afternoon performance. After the performers take their bows, we have a ceremony where each performer, stagehand , script manager, director, etc. are individually introduced and are presented with a commemorative rose by an alumnus or faculty member.
If you want to take part in this event, please let us know if you will be here. Helena J. Conley '98, Alumni Council President, Dan '65 and Linda Ryan, Jerome Thierry '81 Zac Bose '82 will be among the presenters. |
More Of The Finer Things
The Serra Drum Line participates in the City of Gardena Cinco De Mayo Parade each year. This year the parade took place on April 30. You have one more chance to see the Drumline and other members of the music department perform. Serra's Spring Visual & Performance Art showcase is March 18 in the Serra Gym on Thursday, at May 18 at 6:30. Below are samples of student art to be shown.

It also lets you participate in one of the great Silent Auctions. Appetizers at 5:00 & Dinner at 6:00. This is what a ticket looks like.
The legendary Tim Boyer is still practicing....this time with a 6 iron. Here he is with his coach of the week, Principal Jeff Guzman. Tim and Jeff appear to be on Cavalier Drive heading for Serra Way. And here is it below.
The signs are produced by Maneri Sign Co. in Gardena. They may be among the raffle items at the Golf Tournament.

The Booster Club Car Show
The booster Club Car Show was a big success.
Jerry Uribe '55 did not win the oldest car award with his '56 Chevy, pictured on the left, but he won the oldest alumni entrant award. Gary Boyd '64 brought his '56 Chevy Wagon, pictured on the right.
Parent Tony Taylor is a member of the Black Classic Car Club. They brought 12 cars and the members include alumni of Dorsey, Fremont, Jefferson, Manual Arts and Washington. The alumnus, who thought he was taking pictures, wasn't.
Parent and Sergeant Tony Taylor brought the Sheriff's Muscle Car., pictured on the left.
Is Serra Senior, Ronald Ochoa, the first undergraduate to enter and win an award at a Serra Booster Club Car Show? We think he is. Ronald won a 3rd place prize sponsored by Gardena Bowl. Thank you to Carolyn Madera, Booster Club president, and sponsors including, Wells Fargo bank represented by Branch Manager Latoya Goffe, Remax, Rotex, and Pacific Motorcars.
