Pixie Dust Runs Out

Half time, Serra 25-Harvard-Westlake 24, 3rd quarter, Serra 33-HW 33, Serra 43-HW 43 with 36 seconds left.  Final H-W 41-Serra 36, Congratulations to Coach Hurt and this team. It was an inspiration to watch them put everything together and come from 16 points behind against Cathedral and then go on an 8 game winning streak including a CIF Championship.

Once again, a visitor, this time a H-W dad, took the time to tell one of us how much they appreciated the courtesies shown our visitors.  For football & basketball games, Serra has a "concierge" who greets the visitors as they step off the bus, escorts them to their locker room and takes care of questions they may have.
Golf/Hockey or Hockey/Golf?

Kevin Cormier, Mt. Carmel '76 fought off Zac Bose, Serra '82 at half time in a revival of the Serra-Mt. Carmel rivalry. This time in golf/hockey, Cormier won a close battle with Mr. Bose. The rumor is that Mr. Wissa is itching to challenge Cormier.

After the match, Serra Theatre Director / Producer / Religion Teacher Adriana Encelan '03 posed with the contestants and the prize, THE JEEP TROPHY.

If you come to the Booster Club Car Show on April 30, THE JEEP TROPHY will be on display at the Alumni Table.

Alumni are invited to attend the Sunday afternoon performance of Aladdin on May 15th. We do something special at that performance.

After the heartbreak, some of the Alumni in attendance at the H-W game gathered, albeit heartbroken, at mid-court for a picture. There were a lot of Alumni there including some members of Serra's '93 State Champions.

What's A Shadow Day

A part of Serra's marketing and admissions includes inviting prospective Cavaliers to participate in a Shadow Day.

In a Shadow Day, a prospective student spends a school day at Serra in the company of a member of Serra's Student Ambassadors program. This morning we had 4 parents bring their 8th graders to Serra.  Here are 3 of the 4 parents with Tim Boyer '70 discussing the day.

The Marines Return to Serra
Today, the Marines came to campus to conduct a pull-up and other challenges for the Serra students. Seniors Eduardo Ovando and Brijay Brackett took part in the pull-up challenge.

Here is Staff Sargent Lopez shaking hands with Sophomore James Gaines. Upon leaving, Sarge told us that he did not have experiences at other schools like the experience he had with the Serra students.

Why did SSGT Lopez become a Marine?

He was sitting in his high school class in Jersey City on September 11, 2001. He had a clear view of the World Trade Center towers. He and his classmates watched the Twin Towers collapsing. Some of this classmates had parents that worked in the buildings.

In January of 2003, SSGT Lopez joined the United States Marines. Thank you, SSGT Lopez.
