Prayers
Please pray for Joe Grace '66 who recently passed away.

Like so many Cavalier Alumni, Joe returned for a time to teach and coach. Joe worked with Cheerleaders, Music and Theatre Arts in the early 70's where he produced and directed "The Music Man."

Cavaliers Helping Cavaliers
A couple of Ron Dorius' '64 classmates found out he is pretty sick.

When one of the  Class of '64 needs some help, the Class has a Prayer Patrol. As the prayer patrol got going for Ron, here is one of the messages.

" My sister, Rachel, does religious paintings and had some of her paintings made into prayer cards. She had one made of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  I would like to send some to you. "   Terry Renier '64

Please add Ron Dorius '64 to your prayers.

Homecoming a Hit

As we've done for the last 5 years, lots of Alumni gathered in the Serra Gym after the Homecoming Game. What a great night.  Is there any other Alumni group that compares to the Serra Alumni?

The Class of '85 shown here may have had the largest attendance of any class.  '85 is organizing for a 30 year reunion.

For the 2nd year in a row we have made a special effort to invite Serra Cheer and Pep Squad members to attend and be recognized. This year's group was bigger than last year's.Will next year be still larger?

Here is this years cheer leading team.

We would show you more pictures, but one phone is missing. A picture of the Golf Tournament table is on the missing phone. May 20, 2016 is the date for the Golf Tournament. Don't miss it!

Every year we hold a raffle for an Alumni Legacy Tile. This year's winner is Todd Slaughter '80.

For those of us for whom "the years are dwindling to a precious few," it might be time to consider including Serra in your Estate Plan.  If you need help, we have a couple of Serra Alumni who are Estate Planning professionals.

A few of the attendees at the Serra Mixer at the downtown Double Tree were Dwan Harris '99, Dion Wiltshire '98, Shayna Bennett 2000, LaTerra McDaniel '95 and Jecam Harrison '98. JeJuan Stoot '00 and Shamira Sadler-Brown '00 were the hosts for of a successful event. Parking was tough so JeJuan & Shamira are in the process of hosting another  with better access.  If you have an idea, let us know.

SIC TRANSIT GLORIA
Serra 33 - Crespi 7

Co champs last year, the 2015 Celts are alone in the Mission League cellar this year.  Sic transit gloria.  The Celts were game, but didn't deliver much of a game.  As they say in the front office: you're only as good as this season.  Which is why high school coaches go prematurely gray.

Scott Altenberg may not be going gray, but he is probably tearing some of those golden locks out.  The Cavs were their only serious competition on Friday, hobbling themselves to the tune of 10 major penalties, totally 100 give-away yards -- likely as much as the Celts gained in ten possessions.  As they say in the front office, it will come back to bite you in the long run.

The Cavalier defense was the star of the game smothering the Celtic running attack, which was, realistically, their only attack.  After a good first drive, the Celts never threatened again.  The game was far out of reach when the Celts pushed the last 18 inches on 4th down for their only touchdown.

The Serra offense looked very good against a muscular Crespi defense.  The Cavs had all the muscle they needed and more speed than the Celts could handle.

On offense, the circumstantial evidence suggests that Coach Altenberg made a strategic decision to work on the passing game.  Khalil Tate had frequent chances to show his almost magical jail break skills, but it was pretty obvious that he was deliberately buying time to work to find an open receiver.  As a result, it must have been the most enjoyable game so far for Serra's receivers: Burton, Diego-Williams, Robertson, Hall, McGinty and Eure.  And it goes without saying that Khalil Tate will have better opportunities to run if the passing game is effective.

Not to say that there were no runs.  Four of the five touchdowns were scored on runs: two more or less patented Khalil Tate runs, one by Anthony Torres and one by Jalani Eason.  The one pass went to Merlin Robertson on an absolutely perfect pass caught crossing the goal line.  The kicking game was problematic but only looking ahead.

The fourth quarter gave Jalani Eason, Anthony Torres, Randy Anyanwu and others a chance to shine.  Eason's fine run up the middle with eight minutes remaining was a close cousin of Ador Jackson's flip into the end zone in the 2012 state championship game.

The Cavs have a week off, then a final home game against Alemany on Halloweeneen (October 30).  Alemany was clobbered in the battle of the Bishops 49 to 24.  They'll face Loyola at home while Serra relaxes next Friday.  Other results and league standings in general are as follows:
