Alumni Report
The year ending June 30, 2014, Serra operated on a budget of 4.1m for 585 students for the year. That's $7,000 per student. Determining the cost per student amount for a public school is difficult. Barron's included this sentence recently in an opinion piece....."to apply the tax-dollar equivalent of a public education-almost $20,000 a year in New York City...". Google cost per student if you wish.
A thanks to all of you who donate to Serra by buying your Alumni or FOS card(s), Legacy Tiles, Invest Student, or just buying a ticket and attending games and the various events. Thanks also to those who would if they could.
That out of the way, will any class ever donate more money to Serra High School in a year than the class of 1961? '61 has led in donations for at least the last 4 years.
The totals below include annual report donations, legacy tiles, alumni cards, some tickets to some events.....just about anything except buying game tickets and hamburgers at the concession stands.
The donations in Column 1, by class, are from 7/1/14 through 3/31/15. Column 2 is year ending 6/1/14.
(in order of Gross Revenue)
1961 17901 1961 22977

No one has donated anything from 14 classes through 2000.
We have approximately 6500 alumni. We have e-mails for a little over 2800 of them. We send out the newsletter to 2800 alumni and about 300 friends of Serra. On average, 900-1000 open it. There are a few who receive the newsletter and forward it on to their own lists. The newsletter gets posted to facebook. We have 2700 friends. It then gets posted on the Serra website and is tweeted to our over 1000 twitter followers and then is placed in the Serra archives.
We have a total of 202 alumni who have donated or bought legacy tiles, alumni cards, reunion registrations through the end of March this year. Our total alumni revenue to date is $105,072. Our biggest year for Alumni was 2012-13 with 145,151. We have 82 Friends of Serra (individual non-alumni, not corps or other organizations) who have donated $103,845 to date this year. Our record here was last year at 104,199. (We have exceeded that in the first few days of April.)
We have 4 matching gifts from Edison International and 6 from the AT&T matching giving campaign. Almost every major corporation will have a matching gift program. If you work for a major company and have donated, it is an easy and much appreciated way to help.
