Do It Yourself

Stephanie Nguyen, is our Project Lead the Way Coordinator and Bio Medical Science teacher.

When school began last August in Ms. Nguyen's brand new classroom/lab funded by grants from the Shea and Daniel Murphy foundations, there were still materials she needed to implement  the class.  Ms. Nguyen took the initiative  and signed  up on-line for the crowd funding program called Adopt-A-Classroom. Quaker Oats found her page and invested in her class.  Not enough for everything the class needs......but a start.  If you want to participate along with Quaker Oats, e-mail ([email protected]) or call (310-324-6675 Ext. 3010), or just send money and mark it for Project Lead the Way.

Stephanie has a BS in Neuroscience and BA in French/German from UC Riverside.  She is presently enrolled in a Master's Program in education at LMU.

Is There A Doctor in the House?

Ms Nguyen asked if we had Alumni in the medical professions who would be willing to come and speak and discuss professions with the bio-medical science class?  If you want to do this, call or e-mail me at [email protected] or (310) 324-6675 Ext. 3010

How the World Interconnects

Class of '74 Reunion

Saturday night the class of '74 met in the beautiful Serra High Cafeteria for their 40th reunion. Here is how the world interconnects. Among the 70+ attendees including wives and cheerleaders, we met a member of the medical profession from the Class of '74 whose wife is also a medical professional. Both said they were interested in helping the bio-medical science class. In addition, at least one of the class members is going to try to help with funding for Project Lead the Way.

Most of the class of 1974 came early and stayed late. They toured the library, walked down senior walk, took a look at the new Science wing and viewed the Alumni Legacy Tiles on the Alumni Wall.

The class set a record for attendance at 40 year reunions, tied the record for cheerleaders in attendance and set the record for husbands of cheerleaders in attendance.

Another connection......for our fall plans we are working on a cheerleaders night for the fall football season.  If you were a cheerleader for Serra....please send us your e-mail and we will begin the list.
