The Dedication to Excellence UPDATE

All of our Alumni Council Officers will be at Serra this Saturday at 6:00 PM for the Dedication to Excellence Gala honoring Mr. John McFarland.  Goodness gracious, if you are still making up your mind whether or not to attend the Gala, there are only a few tickets left.

The Silent Auction is becoming an event itself. It includes 2 sets of 4 ground level seats for the Dodgers, a golf outing including lunch at Western Hills (Chino), superb wines,  for UCLA people, a Jim Mora signed football and much, much more.

But the best part of the Gala will be meeting people from Serra's past,  present and future.

Go to http://www.la-serrahs.org click in the lower right hand corner and purchase your tickets.  Do this before Thursday morning and your name will appear in the special thank you section of the supplementary program.  If you don't want to go on-line, call Vince Kates at 310-324-6675 ext. 3010 and we will make arrangements.

Was Biology always like this at Serra?

This past Thursday, Serra's AP Biology class traveled to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific.  Our students headed to the water to take part in an Advanced Placement Biology Lab titled "Dissolved Oxygen and Aquatic Primary Productivity."  They took water samples and conducted tests to see which water level contained the most dissolved oxygen.  The students drew conclusions about different factors that affect oxygen levels and the implications on the surrounding ecosystems.  Just another day at the beach.
