The Boys

The Boys open play in the State Division IV play offs against Granite Hills from Porterville tonight at 7:00PM in the Serra Gym.  Go to MaxPreps to look at the brackets.  Don't be surprised if the boys finish with a flourish and surprise a few people in the State Tournament.

The Girls ~ Number 1 Seed

The Girls are the number 1 seed in the Southern California section of the State Division IV play offs. The Lady Cavs drew a first round bye.  Be in the Serra gym Saturday night, March 15 at 7:00 PM when the Lady Cavs play the winner of the Lindsey-Fairmont Prep game.  Coach Mac Hadley says the teams approach is to "make it to the tournament and win the last game."

Dedication to Excellence Student Award

At each Gala, the Serra Development and Alumni Office also awards a student excellence trophy.  Two years ago, the honoree was Urina Harrell '12 who is now doing very well at Duke.  Last years honoree Ana-Lexis Bridewell '13 is a star student at Loyola Marymount.  This year we are proud to honor Isiah Copeland.  Isiah is Student Body President.  We need a page to list the scholarships he has won already.

Isiah is pictured here with Vivian Bertrand, Serra's Junior-Senior Counselor.

Dedication to Excellence

Those of you who attend this years Dedication will enjoy a special evening.  Plus, you will experience some of Serra's past, its present and a short look at its future.   Mr. McFarland, more than just a teacher, wrote the following  "Comments on Serra High School" for the Dedication Event Program. Click on the link above to read it.

ARE ANY OF THESE STATEMENTS TRUE?

Serra had a co-ed class on campus in the '60s.

The Mt. Carmel Alumni Association is supporting Serra's Dedication to Excellence dinner.

15% of Serra's graduates last year entered College as 2nd semester Freshman.

Tony Mannara '65 said "Mr. McFarland gave me D's and I still loved him.........even with the D's, I learned more in his class than any other."

Ed Marzec '65 will be climbing Mt. Everest with Serra Alumni Visors in his pack on April 12.  (Ed, hold the visor up when you get to the top so that a Cavalier Alumni Visor will be the highest point on earth.)

The Cavalier Swim Team heads into the season with a GPA of 3.5.
