Serra's Math Team is Back
After a season off, Serra's 3-time National Catholic Small School Math Champions are competing in a new season.
Coached by Ms. Megan McCann and assisted by Mr. Jordan Bozer, the team has already competed twice and has two more competitions to go.
Serra Alumnus wins Super Bowl
#33 Duke Ihenacho will line up at safety for the Bronco's. Duke graduated from Serra in '07, studied and played for San Jose State. Duke was not drafted, but showing grit and determination, is a starter in the Super Bowl.
Kris Richards, Serra '97, is Seattle's Defensive Backfield Coach. Kris played for USC, was drafted in the 3rd
round by the Seahawks then played for the Dolphins, the 49ers and the Raiders.
Side stories: Serra's multi-talented teacher-coach Garen Stephan was the strength & conditioning coach at Kentucky and trained the Bronco's Jacob Tamme and Wesley Woodyard.
Carl Ihenacho '06, Duke's brother, played for the Chargers and the Raiders and is now a personal trainer.
Another Headline
Friday night, January 17 the Serra Basketball team defeated LaSalle 89-63......but half-time was the story. Serra's first State Championship Team from 1993 was introduced and honored at half time followed by a presentation to Coach Dwan Hurt celebrating his 500th win as Serra's Head Coach.

Father Ted Ley , SM, brought Marianist Father Martin Solma, SM, to tour the Serra Campus. Father Solma has spent his Ministry in Nigeria and Kenya.
On the same day, Father Robert was giving Slovakian Norbertine Sisters Sr. Benedikta and Sr. Roberta a tour. We caught up with Father Robert as he was explaining Senior Walk to them. The Sister's were here speaking to the Women's Vocations in Progress Club.
