And more Affairs to Remember... at Reunions
| CLASS OF 62 50 YEAR REUNION - Click for more photos | Among the many claims for having the best Class Reunion, none matches the '62 reunion for Drama. As the reunion began, Class Captain Denny Grace collapsed with a heart attack. Captain Grace was hauled out by the paramedics and the reunion proceeded. Denny called in from the hospital to make sure everyone was having fun. They were! Denny happily reports that he is recovering nicely. At least 54 graduates attended and 36 brought guests. Two men who had significant influences on the Class of '62 returned for the event, Bro. William Bolts and Mr. John McFarland. Bro. Bolts, one of Serra's greatest teachers and Principals, spoke of his 13 years at Serra with great affection. Is it worth noting that none of the grad's had untrimmed side burns? Mr. John McFarland began his storied teaching career at Serra. How good was Mr. McFarland? In 1995 he was awarded the Gerald Hayward Award for Excellence in Teaching, given annually by the California Community College Board of Trustee's. Bro. Frank Spaeth, the Principal in '61 and '62 is living in Cupertino and sent his best wishes.

CLASS OF '72 - 40 YEAR REUNION - Click for more photos |

'72 Captain Mike Fanueff fortunately did not suffer any attack... so '72 did not match '62 for drama. However, on the fun scale, '72 may have matched '62. We will be reviewing the film from each reunion to determine who had the best time. '72 did win the farthest travel award, Dr. John Giurini flew in from Boston, Massachusetts. Bro. Bolts attended, spoke and declared that his best years were his time at Serra. Coach Ray Kalinich sent a congratulatory message. Mr. Kates gave Malcheski 2 demerits. |

Expanding in Advance Placement
Thanks to the Gardena Lion's Club

The Lion's Club presented checks totalling $1000 last Friday at Serra. The Donations will help expand Serra's Advanced Placement Program from 3 classes to 6 classes. These programs are vital to continuing our level of academic excellence and achievement. |

Shortstop Makes a Stop by Serra
All League Shortstop, Wayne Tanaka '65, visited his Alma Mater for the first time in decades. He liked it so much he came back for a 2nd look. Wayne's name will be on the Alumni Legacy Wall in July and he walked out with his Alumni Membership Card. Plus, Tanaka will begin working with fellow classmate and '65 Class Captain, Tony Mannera.
