Plenary Sessions
Emerging Leaders Forum
In the #NMC13 Emerging Leaders Forum, eight rising stars in education explored ways to change the world. They traveled from all over the globe to deliver 10-minute presentations, with an opportunity to receive $2,500 in funding for their big ideas. Congratulations to the winner Nico Carver of University of Delaware Library! And, of course, kudos goes to all of the selected emerging leaders: Todd Bryant (Dickinson College), José Ignacio Fernández Cofré (Corazón de Chileno), Gregory Fortner (Network Labs), Michael Furdyk (TakingITGlobal), Sarah Schauss and Matthew Worwood (EDUCATION CONNECTION's Center for 21st Century Skills), and Carol Stensrud (VSA Texas New Media Arts).

Fast Forward: The NMC in 20 Years (Closing Panel)
CEO Larry Johnson led the closing panel, consisting of integral NMC figures Lev Gonick (Case Western Reserve University / OneCommunity), Scott Sayre (Sandbox Studios / Museum 411), and Kristina Woolsey (Exploratorium), in a thought-provoking discussion on where learning is headed over the next 20 years. They explored the challenges we face as well as the opportunities for innovation.

"As we have been reviewing, reminiscing and revisiting the last 20 years of technology changes, our activities, events, and so on.... Have we also looked at what's on our name tags? I mean your job title. Did it exist 20 years ago? Did it exist 10 years ago? One of the remarkable and exciting things about our profession is how it changes and evolves constantly, and creates new professional opportunities..."
