Community Day 2012

Last weekend, Lab alumni gave a day of their time and talents to volunteer at Family Service Association's Pilgrim Headstart Center. Alumni spent the morning cleaning out old flower beds, planting new plants and overall beautifying the outdoor areas where the children play and garden.

This event further aligned the Lab Alumni with their goal of advancing SA2020 by supporting education in San Antonio. Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales at this year's Lab events helped purchase materials for their garden.

The Traits of Successful Leadership
  by Larry R. Nordhagen

Successful leaders are perceived as admired, respected and trusted. Great leaders are self-aware and lead with intent and purpose. Leaders who create organizational alignment become catalysts for other leaders to emulate.

Overall, successful leaders:

Close the gap between how they view themselves and how others view them by viewing their leadership through the lens of others. This involves seeking feedback. To be effective, leaders must leave their egos at the door and seek open and honest feedback from individuals who are critical to their success. Leaders must also be attentive to feedback. If they aren't communicating, leaders must seek to understand what is preventing them from communicating.

We Need Your Feedback!
Our annual membership survey will be e-mailed to you in the next few weeks. Your feedbackSurvey from these surveys is critical in determining the direction that the board takes when planning events, educational programs and communictions to the alumni group. Please help us plan for 2013 by filling out your survey!
If there are programs you would be interested in, events you would like to have, or even just different days or times for the events, please let us know. The Board works hard to plan events that are central and convenient to all of our members and member feedback is a very important part of the planning process!
