Here it is another Christmas season, another summer gone by, and spring is just around the corner.
Black Friday is over, I have not turned on the tube to find out how the stores made out, I guess it is a good sign of the economy, but I am more interested in our local economy. I stay out of the box stores and if I am going to buy anything I shop local, it is the best way to help my own community.
I lucked out the other day I needed a pair of shoes so I went to Hyman's Penny Worth in Newburyport. I only wear a size 7 so it is very hard for me to find good mens shoes, and I wanted either Merrill's or Keens. None fit so the little Al Bundy that is waiting on me, leaves for a minute and comes back with a pair of shoes that fit perfect. He found them in the kids section at half the price of the mens. Now I need boots.
Ah I digress, all around the Newburyport, Salisbury area are great stores to buy crafts, clothes, and even gift certificates for car repair, which by the way is much cheaper locally than at the dealers, and we have great mechanics in the area.
Now that I think of it, Captain Ed's Sailing is a local business, I spend all of my profit locally and I sell gift certificates. There are coupons for my gift certificates down below, check them out and see if they meet your needs, if they don't, give me a call and I will make you up a certificate that does.
