I feel good about the trip, I got a lot of work done on the Ker Mor, and the boat is ready to do some serious sailing when John gets back down there in the spring.Though the weather was not much warmer in Charleston than it was up in New England, the sun did come out enough to wash and wax the boat, do a few outside projects, and also go out for a nice sail out to Fort Sumter on Saturday afternoon. The Ker Mor was docked beside the Patriots point Museum but I did not have a chance to visit.
Patriots Point is home to the World War 2, Medal of Honor Museum, the USS Yorktown, the Submarine USS Clagamore, and USS Laffey.
Funny as I go into these different harbors I usually meet people I know or friends of friends, of friends, and this trip was no exception. I met Alicia and Dick while in Charleston, they were from Haverhill and friends of good sailing friends of mine Beth and Joe Bushini. Check out their blog Slow boat south
The Ker Mor may be available for charter this year if you are interested give me a call and if there is enough interest we can make the arraignments. From experience I can just say it is pretty fun sailing within the protection of Charleston Harbor, and Fort Sumpter.
So I am back in Salisbury with not much thought towards sailing other than whether I should make a trip down to New Jersey and check on the Sarah Maria, I am a little nervous that I may have left water in one of the tanks, it should be fine but who knows.
My other thought is of the Bella Donna, it is only a couple of miles form where I am living this year so it should be in top shape for this coming sailing season.
During the 2015 sailing season I plan on, in addition to my weekly sailing classes, is to sell a couple of sailing session classes. The classes will be four classes long, will be longer classes than my usual classes and will involve learning to do everything from safety, and engine check, to tacking and jibing, anchoring, and foul weather sailing.
Additional classes will focus on Navigation and night sailing.
And last of course is my favorite the family hands on sailing adventure, where the whole family learns how to sail as a team. This is a hands on sailing adventure and a great way to spend time as a family as you learn the new skill of sailing.
