Captain Ed's Sailing

Hope every one is doing ok, I know we are all sick of a winter that is refusing to leave.
Unfortunately for me I have not been on either of my boats since covering them in November. I don't have much to do to them so I still expect my first sailing classes to start just around May 1st.
Within the last few weeks I have received emails from clients who would like to unload their sailboats. One of them is a 25ft Catalina, and the other is a 26ft C&C. Both of these are great boats and can be bought fairly cheap. If you are interested in either let me know and I will get you the details.
Don't forget that with Captain Ed's Sailing, you don't own a boat.
You don't insure, paint, or maintain, a boat. At the end of a day of sailing you get in your car and drive home, or walk to down town Newburyport for dinner or a yogurt at Orange Leaf. There is always some event going on all summer in Newburyport.
Both of these boat have cost the owners more than they had paid for them in one year, with the average cost of owning a 25ft sailboat being around $6000 per year. Divide that by the times that the boat will be used, Average say ten at the most. It will cost Just around $600 each time you take out your boat.
You may think I would be a great investment as a family to own a boat. Probably not, the chances of getting your kids out sailing all summer  is pretty slim, especially if they are teenagers.
We all have busy lives now for some reason and do not take the time to stop. We have family events all through the summer, we have school shopping, and the mall.
Last year I made more than 50 sailing trips, many them during the week. The four best weekends of the summer in August, I am just hanging around town with my dog. I could not figure why, I had bookings during the week. The reason was everyone is busy during those weekends with family functions, weddings, camping, better things to do.
I have a connection to many boats that need owners but is it a good thing to own a boat? I always have and for me, the answer would be sorta yes. A good idea from a financial point of view no way. Take some lessons with Captain Ed's Sailing, We have fun out there, hit all kinds of weather and build sailing experiences. With the money you save get a cottage at the beach or charter a boat in the Islands. I have a connection for that as well.
If you are interested in either of these two boats give me a call and I will set you up, it may turn out to be your thing.

Before spring gets here make sure you check below for other things to do around Newburyport

So far my plans are still on track to have the Bella Donna back in the water and sailing on May 1st, now is a great time to start making your plans for a sailing adventure this coming summer.

Captain Ed's Sailing was  very successful last year with just about 50 days of sailing under our belts, and meeting and sailing with many great people.

I want to again thank everyone for their support of Captain Ed's Sailing if it is even just through reading my news letters.

Thanks Captain Ed's Sailing

Captain Ed's Sailing gets more popular each year, however there are always great weekends as well as weekdays available.
At the end of the day you walk away from the boat and leave the cost of owning and maintaining the boat up to me.
Call or email to reserve your spot for next summer.  508-451-0431  Captain Ed's Sailing

Things to do after sailing with

       Captain Ed's Sailing

A day sailing on the Bella Donna will take up to 6 hours of your time, at the end of the day, if you still have some energy, there is still plenty of other things to do around Newburyport.

There are plenty of restaurants around town, such as the Grog, Michaels, The Black Cow, and Loretta's, restaurants. A great place to grab a Sandwich before a sailing trip is at the Warren street market

Out towards Plum Island you will find Bob's Lobster.

Make a trip more exciting on your way out to Bob's Lobster by renting an EZ pedal bike from EZ Pedaler of Newburyport

If you are looking for a place to stay while in the area my client's have stayed at the Essex Street Inn,  The Blue out on Plum Island, as well as The Garrison Inn , and the The Compass Rose Inn

We live in a great area to try out some salt water fishing as well. For short days I like Channel Edge Charters, or Flounder Fishing, from the Captains Lady . For Longer excursions check out The Clipper Fleet in Salisbury or again the Captains Lady out on Plum Island.
