2016 brings no less than four editions of TENSO Days, the festival for contemporary choral music, kicking off in Mechelen from 13-15 May, as part of Mechelen hoort Stemmen / Festival van Vlaanderen.

With concerts of Det Norske Solistkor, Latvijas Radio Koris and jeune coeur de paris, the fifth edition of the Tenso Young Composers Workshop (see below), as well as the second edition of the Tenso Masterclass for Conductors.

Tenso Young Composers Workshop 2016 : meet the composers!

During TENSO Days Mechelen 2016, five young composers will work with
Latvijas Radio Koris in Tenso Young Composers Workshop. Workshop leaders will be conductor/composer James Wood and composer/musicologist Leo Samama.

The selected composers are Aftab Darvishi (IR), Piyawat Louilarpprasert (TH), Alejandro Mata (MX), Aled Smith (UK), and Sophie Sparkes (UK).

twceWorkshop Composing for Choir & Electronics 

On 16 and 17 April, the renowned Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki was the venue for the introductory sessions of the workshop Composing for Choir & Electronics.

The selected composers are Ilkka Aunu (FI), Jaime Belmonte Caparr�s (ES), Alberto Carretero (ES), and Juan de Dios Magdaleno (Mexico). They worked closely with coaches Marco Stroppa and Paola Livorsi, and teachers and students of the Music Technology department of Sibelius Academy. In August, the workshop will continue, rounded off by a presentation of their music as part of Tenso Days Helsinki.
