An update about our activities. The call for the first Tenso Masterclass for Conductors is now open, and the Tenso Young Composers Award 2014 has been granted. What's more, the next Tenso Professionals Meeting in Porto will be about music projects for children - registration is open. And, the programme for the next Tenso Days (Mechelen, May 2015) has been announced. 

Call for conductors for the first Tenso Masterclass for Conductors now open

 

As the next step in its talent development programme, Tenso will organize a series of masterclasses for conductors.

 

At the Tenso Days 2015 Mechelen, conductors Daniel Reuss (Cappella Amsterdam, right) and Fredrik Malmberg (Eric Ericson Kammarkör) will pick up the baton for the first Tenso Masterclass for Conductors.

 

Young promising conductors will be offered the opportunity to work with some of the best chamber choirs, under supervision of two renowned choral conductors.

Calls for the next editions of the Tenso Europe Chamber Choir and the Tenso Young Composers Workshop will go out early 2015.

 

Georgi Sztojanov receives Tenso Young Composers Award 2014


After the first round of our annual workshop for young composers, three finalists where chosen to participate in the second round in Copenhagen lasst month : Francesca Le Lohé (UK), Nuno da Rocha (PT), and Georgi Sztojanov (BG/HU). During two intensive sessions, they worked with DR Vokalensemblet and coaches James Wood and Hans Koolmees.


The jury decided to 
award the commission to the composer who showed the most progress in the workshop sessions, and who may profit most from the coaching and the ideas developed during the sessions. It is with great pleasure that the commission has been awarded to Georgi Sztojanov.

Tenso Professionals Meeting

 

The annual Tenso Professionals Meeting (TPM) brings together around 40 professionals in the field of music for two days of presentations and discussions. In April this year, TPM took place in Berlin. The next edition of TPM will take place during the celebration weekend of 10 years Casa da Música in Porto from 10 - 12 April 2015.

In our previous meeting, we discussed the education of a new generation of professional artists in the field of choral music. This year we take an even broader view, looking at musical projects for children. 


 

The TPM will take place in Porto (PT) during the celebration weekend of the wonderful Casa da Música, which organizes a renowned educational programme. Participants will have the opportunity to attend showcases and concerts.

Tenso Days

 

Tenso Days is an international choir festival aimed at a large and general audience of music lovers - a showcase of the very best of chamber choir performances. In October 2014, Tenso Days took place in Riga, Latvia. The next edition of Tenso Days will be hosted - for the third time - by Festival van Vlaanderen/Mechelen Hoort Stemmen from 15 to 17 May 2015.

This edition will bring concerts by Tenso members Ensemble Musicatreize, Cappella Amsterdam and Helsingin kamarikuoro, as well as the first edition of the Masterclass for Conductors (see above) and the fourth Tenso Young Composers Workshop.

 

Among the concerts a world premiere of Visioni ed Estasi, a work for many voices by renowned Belgian composer Wim Henderickx, performed by the three Tenso member choirs, together wtih a number of amateur choirs from Mechelen.
