Tenso Days Mechelen brought concerts of three of the best of our 'Northern' choirs: DR Vokalensemblet, Latvijas Radio Koris and RIAS Kammerchor, with varied programmes with premieres and highlights of the repertoire. Together, they performed a world premiere of Belgian composer Joris Blanckaert. Plus a masterclass of Sigvards Kļava, our composers workshop, singalong, and more ... see the short video impression.

Tenso 14-18 : From poetry to music

Our project From poetry to music - creating new music for chamber choir based on texts dating from 1914-1918 - has taken a flying start with a new composition of Eugene Birman, winner of the previous Tenso Young Composers Award, which was premiered by Latvijas Radio Koris during Tenso Days Mechelen. Festival composer Joris Blanckaert also chose three war poems for his new work for three chamber choirs, as did four of the six young composers who participated in the workshop.

Thanks to the growing number of contributors, there are now more than thirty poems on the site, and the number grows every week. The design of the website, including advanced live filter and search, is our work in progress for the coming months.
