National Nurses Week is celebrated every year beginning May 6 and ending May 12 on Florence Nightingale's birthday. Join us in celebrating the men and women who serve this country by caring for its citizens.
We recognize the invaluable work of nurses during National Nurses Week. Nurses are the first line of defense in the prevention of illness and injury. They champion and promote the health of our nation.As healthcare leaders and trusted advisers on health issues, we thank nurses for their continued efforts to improve patient outcomes in the ever-evolving field of primary care. Aiming to Close the Disparity Gap

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Minority Health's (OMH) mission is to eliminate health disparities among all Medicare minority populations, including racial and ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, and rural populations. These populations often experience disproportionately high burdens of disease, worse quality of care and barriers to accessing care.

Free Webinar: Effective Communication and Coordination of Care

The Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program will be holding the next installment of its free "Sharing Knowledge, Improving Health Care" learning series on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. EDT.
The virtual training session is open to for beneficiaries, families, providers, practitioners, partners and Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organizations (QIN-QIO), and will feature guest presenters Traci Archibald, CMS, Jane Brock, MD, Telligen and Angela Lucente Prokop, Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging.

Hand Hygiene Day - May 5, 2016!
|
On May 5, SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands is celebrated by the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other partners, to encourage healthcare providers to promote and practice good hand hygiene measures to reduce the risk of infection among patients. This year's theme highlights the importance of hand hygiene best practices to prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
The Medicare Learning Network offers a web-based training course on Infection Control: Hand Hygiene, on the Learning Management and Product Ordering System. Learn about hand hygiene in patient care zones and nearby administrative areas, includes appropriate methods for maintaining good hand hygiene and how to recognize opportunities for hand hygiene in a health care setting. Physician and non-physician practitioners may receive continuing education credit for successful completion.

Registration Now Open: Network Technician Meeting

This year IPRO ESRD Network of New England will be hosting an educational meeting for technicians in the New England region. The meeting will be one full day with one location option.This educational meeting will be focused around technicians and will provide 7.8 continuing education units (CEUs) as well as an opportunity to learn and collaborate with others from the area.
