Welcome to OLF

     Educating students

to become Catholic leaders

of the 21st Century!

Superintendent Dhuyvetter spends time with OLF students
During his annual visit to OLF, Superintendent Dhuyvetter took time of his busy schedule to tour the school and visit each classroom.

Greg Dhuyvetter
Mr. Dhuyvetter talked to the students and asked many questions about their school and their learning environment. He observed the students during art class, computer lessons and Science experiments. With a variety of learning activities, he reflected with individual students about the blessings of our school and quality Catholic education.

"What do you like about your school" he asked? The responses were as cute and honest as they come: "Our teachers are great", "it's Catholic",...."we talk about God",....."Math", "Science", "PE" ....., "we learn much!"
Catholic Schools Week
While concluding his visit, our Superintendent asked our students to do three things for him:
  1. Be respectful and kind to the teachers
  2. Be kind and inclusive to each other
  3. Read, read, read more!
A visionary leader who truly cares about our students' future, Mr. Dhuyvetter has set high expectations for all Catholic schools in the Diocese of Orange.  Working closely with the administration, he has facilitated our advancement as a faith-filled educational institution of learning, particularly in the area of technology integration at OLF.

Our Gala  Dinner & Auction was a beautiful event and an opportunity to celebrate OLF! This social gathering allowed us to spend some fun time together and provided a moment of relaxation for all. A special "thank you" was communicated from our Superintendent of Catholic Schools and his lovely wife. Both enjoyed the evening tremendously!

Our Chairperson, Claudine Schulte, exceeded once again the events from previous years with superb live auction items and an astonishing array of baskets for the Silent Auction. The venue was set up in record time, thanks to everyone's hard work, time and effort.

If you didn't get a chance to see the lovely flower arrangements at the auction, they were generously donated by Beach Cities Florist, and our very own OLF Family,

The Lawrence Family.

If you need any arrangements for your floral needs contact Beach Cities Florist today @ 949-361-7913.

If you loved the desserts at the auction, as we all did, and need an expert baker, contact Stephanie Hill Larson, at Life is Sweets...she can be reached at 714-328-0740.  Yummy delicious desserts!

Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. James Alves and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Dodd for the wine that was served throughout the evening at the auction.  We appreciate your support and generosity.

To the many families that participated in making the auction a success, from those who helped load and unload, check in and check out, and more, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Special thanks to Lara Brummel, Cindy Clark, Alexandra Delfs, Kathy Galletta, Linda Gould, Maria Hall, Lisa Lawrence, Anne Patrick, Shannon Rae Valdez, Kevin Daehnke, Kris Swart, and Doug Reeves.

Calendar changes for June!

At the beginning of the school year, we indicated that we had scheduled 183 school days while needing only 180 student-contact days to fulfill our Diocesan commitment. This was done to allow for potential modification in case of unforeseen events, such as power outages like last year, etc.  We have come through this year without anticipated challenges. Therefore, we complete the 180 school days successfully by June 11th.

Please revise your calendar as follows:

Last day for students is Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
This will be a minimum day; Students will attend Parish Mass at 8:30 a.m. and the day will conclude with the Concert in the Falcon's Quad at 10:00 followed by our traditional promotion ceremony.
Last day for teachers is Friday, June 14, 2013.
This allows the teachers to complete their contractual obligations a few days earlier. We appreciate your flexibility and support, and look forward to seeing you for the Concert on June 11.   Click for letter calendar adjustments 2013 !
Submitting to the Newsletter
If you have an announcement for the Thursday newsletter, please email it to news@olfschool.net by Tuesday at midnight.  Please include the text and any images/pictures. Thank you.
