OLF's unique DNA
| |
Dear Parents and OLF Families,
What makes OLF such a wonderful place to learn and grow? Our students may have different answers based on their experiences which are influenced by faculty, peers, family support and overall engagement in school activities. However, there are four distinct characteristics that stand out in OLF's DNA: Excellence, tradition, family and innovation!
OLF's Excellence in Education:
From early childhood education in MAP to advanced curricula in Junior High, OLF challenges each child to demonstrate his or her full potential. For nearly 50 years, OLF has produced outstanding, faith-filled scholars, servicemen/woman, entrepreneurs and professionals who are engaged in our community and nation with pride and honor.
OLF's Tradition of Dedication:
Our nurturing and caring learning environment is a major catalyst for our students' success. Faculty, staff and administration work together as one team of experienced educators who share one vision. This professional collaboration results in effective teaching, fun learning experiences and dedication to every child! Mission and vision are elements for success.
OLF's Family Model:
OLF's shared ownership of faith formation and service learning with students, parents, grandparents or family members is rooted in Christ's teachings. We invest time and effort in the success story of every child by modeling the Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs). We measure success not by GPA and talent alone, but more importantly by our students' understanding of their faith and authentic service with others. This is evidenced in our learning community's social justice engagement, family support for each other and loving campus atmosphere.
OLF's Innovation Strain:
Competitive academics, support for every learner, and student empowerment are part of our commitment. Adaptation to global changes and the ability to navigate with flexibility and agility in a digital world are more recent additions. The paradigm shift of 21st Century skills, dynamic learning experiences and student-led innovations are definitely part of OLF's DNA.
OLF is a place of knowledge, an oasis of hope, a playground for exploration and collaboration, a lab for creativity and innovation, and of course a place for prayer.
Blessings,
Beate Nguyen, M.A. Ed
Principal

Calendar changes for June!
| |
At the beginning of the school year, we indicated that we had scheduled 183 school days while needing only 180 student-contact days to fulfill our Diocesan commitment. This was done to allow for potential modification in case of unforeseen events, such as power outages like last year, etc. We have come through this year without anticipated challenges. Therefore, we complete the 180 school days successfully by June 11th.
Please revise your calendar as follows:
Last day for students is Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
This will be a minimum day; Students will attend Parish Mass at 8:30 a.m. and the day will conclude with the Concert in the Falcon's Quad.
Last day for teachers is Friday, June 14, 2013.
This allows the teachers to complete their contractual obligations a few days earlier. We appreciate your flexibility and support, and look forward to seeing you for the Concert on June 11. Click for letter calendar adjustments 2013 !

Auction Assistance Needed
|
The Annual Auction is fast approaching and we are in dire need of your help to get everything ready and make this event a huge success. This event is a major source of funding for our school.
We need your most valuable asset. Your time.
Each year we have a silent auction with hundreds of items. Everyone has graciously donated items and now we have to assemble them into beautiful baskets. This is extremely time consuming. We need help putting the baskets together, picking up donated items, cataloging and creating bid sheets.
If you can help out with basket coordination. The following are the planned dates and times. Volunteers are free to come and go within the various times.
- Saturday 4/13 (all day)
- Sunday 4/14 (after 11am)
- Friday 4/19 (5pm onward)
- Saturday 4/20 (5pm onward)
- Sunday 4/21 (5pm onward)
If you haven't yet fulfilled your service hour commitment, now is the time!! If you have, we still need you!! We really need your help in the following areas:
- Someone to Calligraphy the names onto the seating placement cards (about 350)
- Someone to mail merge the catalog basketting and place on the bid sheets
- Someone to mail merge the name and bid # onto labels for the check in envelopes
- Someone to stuff the check in envelopes with Bid #, Auction Booklet, and miscellaneous items a few nights before the event
- Someone to call families who don't RSVP (yes, many people don't RSVP)...this process would begin on 4/13.
- Check-In and Check-Out helpers the night of the event
- Runners - people who will help take items to cars for those who purchase baskets

AUCTION UPDATE
|
It's the Wild, Wild West!
Saturday, April 27th, 2013 is Our Lady of Fatima Parish School's Annual Gala
This is a time honored tradition that you do not want to miss.
- If you have access to any tickets for sporting events or concerts - we would love them!
- Also, baskets, buckets, tins and tubs...we sure could use these for our auction baskets, please leave in clinic with it tagged for the Auction!
- We are still in need of wine for the auction wine cellar. If each family could donate one extra bottle of wine, it would be appreciated.
- Donate any new items to the auction, and pick up a tax receipt in the clinic auction box!
In anticipation of the largest event of the year, we are looking for new items to be donated to our event.
We would most certainly appreciate any and all new donations.
