Welcome to OLF

     Educating students

to become Catholic leaders

of the 21st Century!

From goblins to "Saints"
Dear Parents and OLF families,

Over the course of just 24 hours, our children transformed from excited, fun-loving goblins and ghouls to a contemplative crowd of "saints."  After attending mass on All Saints Day, the students were treated to a morning assembly with Father William. The topic was "Saints and Heaven".  We reflected on the seven new saints who were recently canonized by Pope Benedict:
  • Pedro Calungsod from the Philippines
  • Kateri Tekakwitha, "little flower of Mohawks
  • French Jesuit Jacques Berthieu
  • Italian priest Giovanni Battista Piamarta,
  • Spanish nun Maria Carmelo Salles y Barangueras
  • German laywoman Anna Schaeffer
  • Mother Marianne Cope
All saints assembly 2012When Father asked our students, if they are part of the communion of saints, most were captivated by the presentation and asked intriguing questions such as:  "What does heaven look like?", "Why is there Heaven and Hell?"... "Can you bring things with you to Heaven?"

If you have over this long weekend, ask your child what he/she learned today! During this Year of Faith, take some time out of your busy schedule and as a family read about our saints or watch the video of the recent canonization !
