PTO NEWS
MAY 7 YARD SALE and PLANT SALE
Spring is around the corner and that means cleaning out the old and planning for new beautiful plants around your home.  PTO can help you with both of those!  Purchase a space for just $15 and sell your unused items here at HC on May 7th.  We will also have a plant sale that day (and maybe even the kettle corn man if you need a little something extra to lure you in!)  To reserve your place, complete the form located in the office and return it with your cash or check.
Continue to send in your BoxTops, Campbells labels, and Coke caps.  Target is ending their school program but we did receive a check for $700 so thank you to those who shopped at Target with a REDcard.  Campbells is also ending their school program but we can submit labels through May so send them on in.

YEARBOOK News
This year the yearbook will be distributed in late May so that students have a chance to sign each other's books. The absolute last day for submitting ads is April 5th.  Please email Katey Gilliam if you need a form.

Key Club News:
We are planning a "School Clean-Up Day" on Tuesday, 3/1. We will gather after school in the cafeteria and begin cleaning the following areas-classroom desks, black/white boards, the Media Lab, and windows. If you would like to sign up and/or send in supplies, then please let me know! We could use some Windex and newspapers for the windows.
Please help us to make sandwiches and bag cereal after school in the cafeteria on Thursday, 3/3. HELP!! We are running low on the following supplies--creamy peanut butter;
jam/jelly; loaves of 100% wheat bread; boxes/bags of healthy cereal.
Please send ALL donations down to Room 104!

'HIT THE BOOKS' READING INCENTIVE KICKOFF: On Wednesday, March 2, we will officially kick off our spring reading incentive "Hit the books"/"Read across America" for elementary students. March 2nd is the birthday of the beloved author Dr. Seuss and a great day to begin this program. The Lynchburg Hillcats baseball team will do a short story/assembly for Pre-K through 3rd grade that day. All students will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss during their library time as we go over the guidelines of the incentive but here are the basics;
Students in Pre-K -2nd grade: Read 4 books
Students in grade 3: Read 200 pages
Students in grades 4-6: Read 300 pages
Among the rewards for completing the reading goal will be 2 Hillcats baseball tickets to one of 5 specific games. Stay tuned for more information about rewards we will add to the incentive.
Please look for details and reading logs to come home before or on Wed. March 2nd.
