A Message from Mary Sherry
I love the story of Christmas and its promise of peace, goodwill to all and the tangible sense of excitement, joy, hope and renewal. Nevertheless, the reality of the Christmas story is usually more complex: what is the message?
Christ was born in a stable in Bethlehem because there was no room in the world of his time for two strangers - one a young, exhausted teenage woman about to give birth and her  betrothed, a conscientious carpenter. The other players include a bevy of angels, a band of hard working shepherds and three wise star-gazers.
Luke's Gospel tells us the story "Mary gave birth to her first born son, and wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them at the inn." There was no room for them, because no one made room for them. They were strangers in the world, friendless, alone, and above all excluded. And yet this birth, this child, brings into the world the possibility of acceptance of all, recognition that each one of us, either known or stranger is still imbued with the Divine presence of our God. Perhaps this detail is as telling as any other.
The message this child brings to the world is one of unconditional love and acceptance. In many of the other stories about him, Jesus is consistently shown to be harsh towards those who presume to exclude or judge others. He welcomes all human beings in all their great variety as "children of God." He believes in their essential goodness and loves them all. This love is not held back or reluctant, it is spontaneous, unquestioning and all embracing.
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, I hope that the joy and peace of this special Holy season be with you and your families. God's blessings for the New Year!
In His Service,
Mary L. Sherry

Thank you students, parents, faculty and staff for your generosity and support of our Advent Food Drive.  We collected 938 non-perishable food items which was delivered to the Holy Cross Food Bank.

A SUPER job to Mrs. Shenigo's fifth grade class who brought in over 150 items.
From Mrs. Main in the library

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU- I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the Holy Cross families who have supported our programs to benefit the library. Between the Scholastic Book Fair in November, the Barnes and Noble Fair that just ended, and the Library Christmas Wish List of books, we will be able to increase our collection and continue our reading incentive programs! Holy Cross School is blessed to have such generous and caring families. Have a beautiful and blessed Christmas season and we will see you in 2016!

Yearbook Deadlines
The Holy Cross Yearbook will be available this year in late May.  The staff decided students would like to sign yearbooks.  Many of us have fond memories of what our classmates wrote and want the students to have those memories.  Pictures of events after the final deadline will be available to add as a supplement to your student's yearbook.

Due to the earlier delivery date, business and personal ads must be at the school by January 31st.  Please use the forms below to submit personal or business ad information.  All photos sent in will be scanned and returned.  You may also send photos electronically to [email protected].
Thank you for your contribution to a lasting memory for our students.
