WARM UP AND TRY EIGHTEEN CHILI RECIPES
AT ANNUAL HCRS FALL
FESTIVAL
Holy Cross Regional Catholic School will crown a new "Chili King" or "Chili Queen" on Saturday, November 7.
The annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off will take place on the school's front lawn from noon to 4 p.m. The event will include eighteen teams vying for bragging rights, a live blues band, children's activities, hot dogs and sodas. Tickets are available at the gate: $15 for adults and $5 for children. Beer and wine are also available for an additional charge. All proceeds will benefit Holy Cross Regional Catholic School.
In addition to Magnolia Foods and Melrose Bison Farm, Principal Mary Sherry, Assistant Principal Doug Washington and Chaplain Father Jim Gallagher will team up for a very "powerful" chili recipe. ANN SHENIGO HONORED AS ATHENA AWARD NOMINEE Fifth grade teacher Ann Shenigo was honored on Friday by the Lynchburg Regional Chamber and Successful Innovations, Inc. as an "Athena Award" nominee. Mrs. Shenigo was among seventeen women professionals from all across the region nominated for this award w hich is given in communities across the nation. "Your ability to instruct classes large and small, with such diverse abilities is skilled and intentional to produce students that think critically, at high levels, and with solid moral foundations," writes parent Maureen Sheedy-Morris. Ann Shenigo has taught fifth grade and third grade at Holy Cross Regional Catholic School, and her guidance in and out of the classroom is legendary. She directed her twentieth Middle/Elementary School musical last year. It was her third rendition of the Wizard of Oz, adding something new and different to it each time. The Athena Award was presented at the Women of Worth luncheon held at the Kirkley Hotel on Friday, October 30. The Award was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment - qualities embodied in the ATHENA Leadership ModelŽ. The Award is unique in both scope---local, national and international---and the ATHENA mission upon which it is based.
