The 2015-16 school year is off to a great start! We are starting our second full week of school and we are very pleased with the smooth beginning to what promises to be a successful and exciting school year. The teachers at Holy Cross are to be commended for the hard work and attention to detail that resulted in a tremendously smooth opening of school this year. It is always fascinating to see a school transform from a nearly empty building one day, to a center of learning full of excited students and adults the next.
As I visited classrooms this week, I saw science experiments, class discussions, Chromebook activities, Guidance and Positive Character lessons, band/orchestra demos, physical education games, social studies debates, and journal activities so that the students and teachers could get to know each other. I saw kids laughing, learning, and enjoying school.
Our goal was to immediately establish a school and classroom environment where students can safely and comfortably think and learn at high levels and we are pleased to see this has happened.Thank you a wonderful first week of school and for entrusting us with the responsibility of educating your child in mind, body, and spirit.

Key Club News:
---Helpers are needed to make sandwiches and bag cereal after school in the cafeteria on Wednesday, 9/2. Parents, teachers, and students are encouraged to help! If you are a 5th-12th grade student, then we can use your assistance! Start earning your service hours for the school year!
---Please continue to send in loaves of 100% wheat bread, boxes/bags of healthy cereal, and jars of creamy peanut butter and jam/jelly.
---We are still collecting books for readers of all ages and healthy snacks for our friends at the Daily Bread. When I was there this past Saturday, a few people asked if I had any Bibles in the boxes of books. Sadly, I did not. Can someone donate a few Bibles to spread our Lord's word in our community? If you visit The Dollar Tree, they have Bibles for $1.00!! It will be the BEST dollar you will have ever spent.
---Our first scheduled day to serve at the Lynchburg Daily Bread for this academic year is Sunday, 9/6. If you are available from 9:00 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m., then let me know. Middle school students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them. We need about 5 or 6 volunteers! So far, we only have one person signed up to serve. Parents, students, friends, and family members are ALL encouraged to assist. You do NOT need to be a member of Key Club!
---Finally, send all supplies, books, Bibles, and snack items to my classroom, Room 104.
