Easter Message from Mrs. Culbreth:
Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; He is not here. Behold the place where they laid Him. (Mark 16:6)
Our Lenten journey will soon come to an end as we celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord on Easter Sunday! During this time of redemption, I wish all our Holy Cross families and friends a very Blessed Easter. I hope our Spring Break will give everyone an opportunity for rest, relaxation and renewal. We will return in April to a busy spring filled with many celebrations of our incredible students. Happy Easter!
Welcome Wednesday Tour on April 15
Parents and grandparents: Please feel free to invite prospective students and their families for our next Welcome Wednesday tour on Wednesday, April 15 from 9-10 a.m. RSVP to Cat Mosley at cmosley@hcfaculty.com or 434-847-5436.
Grandparents' Day is quickly approaching on May 1. It is a wonderful opportunity for grandparents and other "special friends" to join us for an afternoon of art, music and visits to our classrooms. Parents, if you not yet entered your child(ren)'s grandparent info into Renweb, please do so by April 10. If grandparents live out of town and are unable to attend, please feel free to invite a "special friend" of your child(ren)'s. Email Cat Mosley at cmosley@hcfaculty.com with those addresses. The RSVP date for Grandparents Day is April 24 to cmosley@hcfaculty.com or 847-5436.
SPRING SPORTS PICTURES will be taken on Friday, April 17after school.
SPRING SPORTS AWARDS evening will be on Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 pm.
Parent Coffee for 9th and 10th Grade Parents on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:45!
Thank You Pre-K, K, 1st, and 2nd Graders! The Humane Society will be thankful for the many items collected for the animals during Lent. This was a great mission project for the children. What a fun way to help others! Many thanks to the families that donated dog or cat food, doggie treats, towels, toys, bleach, and detergent.
Key Club News: We plan to make sandwiches and bag cereal on Tuesday, April 14th, so please continue to send in supplies! [Wheat bread, healthy cereal, jars of peanut butter and jam]
Our next Key Club meeting for all current and potential members will be held during lunch on Thursday, April 16 in Mrs. St. Angelo's room. Please pack a lunch and be prompt! Bring a friend. All rising 9th through 12th grade students are encouraged to attend to find out more information.
Our next day to serve at the Daily Bread will be on Sunday, April 26th from 9:30 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m. Please consider serving. Middle school students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them.
Key Club Fun is rampant in our school!!! A day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg is in the works for Saturday, May 9th!! The fee [if we get at least 15 people buying tickets] will be $53 for ages 10+ and $46 for ages 3-9. If anyone would like to step forward to volunteer to drive, then let me know.
Let me know if you can help with any of these serving opportunities! Pam St. Angelo pstangelo@hcfaculty.com
Inspiration Has a Name Contest: Congratulations Mikayla Burton who came in first place and won an iPad mini and Alex Malkiewicz who came in second place and won $50!! All students in Mrs. St. Angelo's classes chose an African American for the Black History Month contest whom they found inspirational and wrote a brief paragraph which they submitted. People were encouraged to "like" their entries on the respective Facebook page for the contest. The four entries that received the most "likes" moved on to the final round in the competition. The student whose entry received the most "likes" won an iPad Mini, and the second place winner received a $50 prize. We are so proud of our students' excellent essays.
Rice Bowl Collections: All middle and high school students should plan on returning their rice bowls filled with money to Mrs. St. Angelo or their religion teachers by Friday, April 17th. The class with the most money based on percentage of students will win ice cream! Our goal for middle and high school is $40 per rice bowl, which averages $1 for each day of Lent. I know we can do it! Let's make a difference in the lives of the hungry in our world. GO GAELS!!!
DR. SEUSS/READ ACROSS AMERICA READING INCENTIVE:
We are in the final week of our elementary reading incentive. A note went home with students before Easter break! Students in Pre-K through 1st grade were asked to read 15 books Students in grades 2-5 were asked to read at least 200 pages. Students must fully complete logs or sticker charts (Pre-K-2nd), and have them signed by a parent. Students who meet the minimal goal will earn an "out of uniform" day and points to spend at the Accelerated Reader Store/Treasure Chest on Monday, April 20th. If a student has completed the goal, we encourage them to continue to read as they will earn more points to spend! Top readers will earn a special lunch with Mrs. Culbreth and a chance to win some fabulous book sets! TURN IN READING LOGS UPON RETURN FROM SPRING BREAK- APRIL 13-14. Please contact Mrs. Main with any questions! hmain@hcfaculty.com Happy Easter and happy reading!!!
