Easter Message from Mrs. Culbreth:
Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified.  He has been raised; He is not here.  Behold the place where they laid Him. (Mark 16:6)
Our Lenten journey will soon come to an end as we celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord on Easter Sunday!  During this time of redemption, I wish all our Holy Cross families and friends a very Blessed Easter.  I hope our Spring Break will give everyone an opportunity for rest, relaxation and renewal.  We will return in April to a busy spring filled with many celebrations of our incredible students.  Happy Easter!

It's almost that time of year again! Save the date for the Holy Cross Spring Music Concert, which will take place on Sunday, April 26th, at 2pm in the Holy Cross Cafeteria. We will be featuring all music students (elementary, strings, band, and choir). Please mark this date on your calendar. More information will be forthcoming for individual groups. The students have been working hard and are excited to share what they have been working on all year long. We hope to see you there!

Key Club News:
We plan to make sandwiches and bag cereal on Tuesday, March 31st, so please continue to send in supplies! [Wheat bread, healthy cereal, jars of peanut butter and jam] Our next day to serve at the Daily Bread will be on Sunday, 4/26 from 9:30 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m.  Please consider serving. Middle school students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them. We are planning a walk on the Blackwater Creek Trail in May to benefit the Diabetes Foundation. Look for more information in the weeks to come.  We will need people to sign up to walk and gather sponsors to help us raise money!!!!
Key Club Fun is rampant in our school!!!  A day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg is in the works for a Saturday on May 9th!!  The fee [if we get at least 15 people buying tickets] will be $53 for ages 10+ and $46 for ages 3-9. If anyone would like to step forward to assist with the planning of this event or volunteer to drive, then let me know.  Let me know if you can help with either of these serving opportunities!

Inspiration Has a Name Contest:
Two of Mrs. St. Angelo's students have made it to the finalist round in the online Facebook competition, Inspiration Has a Name.  Congratulations Mikayla Burton and Alex Malkiewicz!!  All students in Mrs. St. Angelo's classes chose an African American for the Black History Month contest whom they found inspirational and wrote a brief paragraph which they submitted. People were encouraged to "like" their entries on the respective Facebook page for the contest. The four entries that received the most "likes" have now moved on to the final round in the competition, so we need EVERYONE who uses Facebook to click on the links for the entries and then LIKE them. You must "like" the picture for the vote to count. We also encourage you to share the links. The person whose entry receives the most "likes" will win an iPad Mini, and the second place winner receives a $50 gift card to a local business.  Here are shortened links to each one:

Appomattox 150th Anniversary Event
Looking for something to do with the kids during Spring Break? Want to do something fun, yet educational? During the week of April 8 - 12th, Appomattox will become the epicenter of everything historical in the area, just like it was 150 years ago when General Robert E. Lee surrendered his troops to General U.S. Grant in the little town of Appomattox! There are events running all week at the National Park, the Museum of the Confederacy, the Carver-Price Museum as well as the grand finale being presented by the Appomattox County Historical Society on Friday, April 10 - Sunday, April 12th! There will be battlefield reenactments involving 3,700 reenactors, 115 cavalry horses and over 50 cannons! This event will be held at the Appomattox Center for Business and Commerce Industrial Park, located 1 mile north-west of US 460 on Oakville Rd (rt 26). The gates open at 8:30 am Friday and Saturday and close both days at 10:00 pm. On Sunday, the gates will open at 7:00 am for church services before the event and will close at 12:00 pm. Advance tickets are $25 for the entire weekend and children under 10 are "free". These tickets are available now on the website, www.AppomattoxHistoricalSociety.org as well as more information. Tickets at the gate are $35 each. There will be much, much more than just battles being presented! There will be a living history center, fashion show, movie, and lots of other entertainment and food! Check out the website, and don't tell your kids they may learn something!
