Thanks to everyone who shared their time and talents during Catholic Schools Week. We had lots of visitors in the building, and it was wonderful. The faculty/staff luncheon was a big hit! It takes all of us to keep Holy Cross School the great community that it is.

Continue to collect Campbells Labels, Coke caps, and Boxtops. Use your Kroger card and Target RedCard often. Every little item helps your child's school!

Christ gave us everlasting life through his death and Resurrection on Easter Sunday. As Easter approaches, we too, are called to give life to our most vulnerable brothers and sisters. When you give alms to CRS Rice Bowl, you live in imitation of Christ by serving the poor and vulnerable in a concrete, life-saving way. RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS BY HOLY CROSS SCHOOL "PRAYER PARTNERS"

Lynchburg, VA, February 12, 2015 ---- February 9-15 is "Random Acts of Kindness Week," and there are many examples of kindnesses happening within the Lynchburg region.

Community Service is a core element of the curriculum at Holy Cross Regional Catholic School (HCRS). During Catholic Schools Week in late January, our "prayer partners" created special valentines for recipients of Meals on Wheels. The prayer partner program at HCRS pairs older students with younger students, allowing mentorship and good deeds. The students learn from each other, and therefore learn to spread kindness inside and outside of school.

"Because of the kindness and creativity of the students at Holy Cross Regional Catholic School, every one of our meal recipients will be remembered this Valentine's Day. Many of our recipients have little or no family in the area, and these acts of kindness have a tremendous impact on the people we serve," said Kris Shabestar, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg. "Our volunteers will be delivering the valentines, but the love and joy from the children will be carried along as well."

About Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg
Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg provides short-term, emergency and long-term service to the homebound community with no waiting lists. Last year, with the assistance of our dedicated volunteers, Meals on Wheels provided more than 50,000 meals to people of all ages in the Lynchburg area. Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg receives no state or federal funding and is entirely supported locally. We are celebrating our 40th anniversary of providing healthy meals, friendly smiles and warm reassurance to the local homebound community.
