If you have a child who will be registering for PreK or Kindergarten at Holy Cross for the 2015-2016 school year, please fill out the mailed form and return it to school. Current students and siblings of current students are given priority in admissions, but we cannot guarantee openings for your child if we do not receive this form by Friday, January 30, 2015.

Jr. LEGO League Starting Soon!
Jr. LEGO League, a fun and educational program which teaches problem solving and critical thinking skills, will start soon for six to ten year olds at Holy Cross School. If your child is interested, please notify Cat Mosley at cmosley@hcfaculty.com by Friday, January 30. We anticipate a weekly "practice" through April. There may be a small charge this year as we anticipate multiple teams. However, if you have an idea for potential sponsors, please let Cat Mosley know!
PTO NewsLooking for something to do? Want to have some adult fun here at Holy Cross? If you are interested in spearheading an adults-only event like a Valentine's Dance or Mardi Gras party, the cafeteria is available on Saturday, February 14th. Please email pto@hcfaculty.com if you would be interested in attending and/or supervising an adult event. Thanks!
Spelling Bee On January, 27th Holy Cross will have its annual 5-8th grade Spelling Bee. It will be held in the cafeteria at 8:30 AM. Students are encouraged to visit myspellit.com to find practice word lists.
We need help making sandwiches after school on Wednesday, January 21st. Any students from grades 5th through 12th may help!
- Please send in loaves of 100% whole wheat bread, peanut butter, boxes/bags of healthy cereal, and boxes of zipper-style sandwich baggies. It would also be wonderful if you would rather send in a monetary donation to help defray the cost of supplies!!
- We plan to meet in my classroom after school on Thursday, January 22nd to make cards for cancer patients, children in the hospital, and other patients at Lynchburg General. ALL are welcome, so please help if you can!!
- Do you want to make a difference in the lives of the hungry in our community by sharing your time? We need servers at the Lynchburg Daily Bread on Sunday, February 1st from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Middle school students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them. [Please do not park in the Holy Cross Church parking lot, but use the parking garage instead.]
Please send me an email if you can assist with any of these projects. Thanks so much for your help!!

Volunteers Needed Do you have an hour to spare once a month? Once a week? Mrs. Main is looking for volunteers to help out in the library with tasks such as shelving books, organizing and such. Once you have been trained, you can come in whenever it's convenient for you when no classes are in session in the library. Contact Mrs. Main if you are interested! hmain@hcfaculty.com RENWEB LIBRARY SYSTEM-IMPORTANT NEWS The elementary library is now using the software that is part of our school wide RenWeb program. This system has many advantages but there are things you need to know. The following are important notes concerning the transfer and a few components of the new system: 1. All books checked out from the old system (anything that was checked out before Christmas break) must be returned immediately to the library. If a student needs a book again, we will check it out for them using the RenWeb program. 2. Books will no longer have a receipt in the pocket listing titles and due dates. Instead, there will be a "date due" card tucked in the pocket with a date due for each book. Please leave both the borrowers card and the date due in the pocket!! 3. You are able to check how many books your child has out by logging on to RenWeb in the parent portal. 4. You are able to search the library database from any computer. Please contact Mrs. Main with any questions! hmain@hcrfaculty.com Thanks for help as we make the switch over to RenWeb!
