Key Club News:
We will be making sandwiches after school on Wednesday, November 19th, and we could use 100% whole wheat bread, peanut butter, and boxes/bags of healthy cereal.

We have enough volunteers for the Daily Bread on Sunday, November 30th, so thank you to all who offered to serve!!  If you didn't get to sign up for the 30th, then we have another opportunity for you to help! We will need people to help serve at the Lynchburg Daily Bread on Sunday, December 7th from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Middle school students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them.

Thanks so much for your continued generosity and support of our mission to serve the needy in the greater Lynchburg area!! Holy Cross School parents, students, faculty, and staff ROCK!!!!

Library Media Center news from Mrs. Main

Scholastic Book Fair - Thanks to the wonderful support of Holy Cross families, the Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. We profited $800.00 from the fair, some of which will be exchanged for Scholastic books at half price for the library!  I would like to thank Renee Rowland & Dianne Delledera for helping at the fair every day, and the others who helped: Cara Stephens, Mary Cottrill, Jerusha Robinson, Melissa Bryant, Vanessa Castleberry, Djelna Legangneu, and Nancy Pryor (sister of Mrs. Main) In addition I would like to thank the numerous folks who donated food/drink items for our family events. Holy Cross parents are truly awesome!

Barnes & Noble Fair December 13-18

Our Holy Cross Barnes and Noble fair is just around the corner! The annual Barnes & Noble fair provides Holy Cross School an opportunity to earn funds while our families and friends shop at any Barnes and Noble or on line. The good news is that we can spread the word to anyone and everyone we know to mention Holy Cross School when they shop on those dates at the local store, or use our Bookfair ID# when they shop online or at another location. Also, all purchases in the store count towards our fair! Even the café purchases! Vouchers with the Book fair ID# will be sent home and are available in the office and library as well! Take a stack and spread them around!

On Saturday, Dec. 13th, 12:30-2:00, we will host story time, and bookmark crafts. In addition, our students will perform a few Christmas songs and our older orchestra students will do a small selection of songs at 1:00 on the steps near the café. Please come out on that day to the Barnes and Noble on Wards Rd. and register to win a Barnes & Noble gift card!

Each year, we put together a wish list of books that we would like to add to the library media center. Families have an opportunity to donate one of the titles in honor of a teacher, staff, child, etc., or in memory of a loved one. We will do this once again so stay tuned for how you can participate in this program that helps our library obtain books while honoring teachers and other loved ones! We will have the program set up before we begin Thanksgiving break!

Kid-free Shopping Day November 22, 2014

Do you have your Christmas shopping done yet?? Have you even started?? Is it hard to get this done with the kids?? Well, the Holy Cross PTO has the answer for you! On Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 1 pm to 5 pm, the PTO is sponsoring a "Kid-free Shopping Day"! Adults and older children will be on hand to watch your children while you shop...or give you time to just relax! As long as your child is age 3 and above (and potty trained) our volunteers will provide crafts, games and so much more to keep them entertained while you help Santa get the things on your list. For the low cost of only $5 per child per hour, you can have up to 4 hours of "Kid-free Shopping" time. Have more than one child?? No problem! For an additional $2 per child per hour, we can watch all of your kids! Help support the Holy Cross PTO ...and your holiday sanity... sign up to take advantage of our "Kid-free Shopping Day"!
