2014 World Food Day on October, 16th 2014
Holy Cross will be participating in the 2014 Catholic Youth World Food Day in a special way during our weekly 8:15 liturgy. Bracelets commemorating the event will be given out to homeroom teachers and students are encouraged to wear the bracelets on the 16th as a sign of support.
An optional donation of $1.00 will be collected by Homeroom teachers October 13th - 16th. Any student, Faculty and or staff member, making a donation of $1.00 or more, will have a Jeans Day on Tuesday, 21st. Participants are encouraged to wear a Holy Cross Shirt and their bracelet as a sign of unity with their jeans. All donations will be given to Cross Catholic Outreach and will be used to help end hunger
Key Club News:
- We will be making sandwiches after school on Wednesday, October 15th. One of our moms has generously offered to run to SAMS to gather whatever supplies we need each month, so it would be quite helpful if we could collect financial donations [SAMs gift cards are also welcome] to help defray the cost of the bread, gloves, jam, peanut butter, and cereal! This should simplify things quite a bit, but if you still prefer to send in the supplies-that is fine, too. We are truly making a difference in the lives of the hungry and homeless who visit the Lynchburg Daily Bread.
- The local animal shelters are in need of gently used towels and blankets for their homeless pets. If anyone wants to send these in, we will deliver them to the various shelters in our area on Thursday, October 30th.
- Calling ALL bakers! We plan to have one more bake sale during both lunches on Friday, October 24th. If you would like to send in individually wrapped baked goods, then please let me know. So far we have collected approximately $370. We will continue to place the spare change jar next to the register during lunch throughout the month of October. Our goal is $500, and I am certain we can do it! All proceeds will be donated to cancer research.
---Please consider doing what you can. The Key Club really could not accomplish anything without the assistance of the entire Holy Cross School Community. Thanks so much for your continued generosity and support of our mission to serve the greater Lynchburg area!!!
