HC Families,
Summer has arrived! I wish all of you a summer filled with family time, rest and relaxation. Our students have worked hard all year in their studies, on their teams and in their extra-c urriculars; they deserve a break. We have a school packed with talent! Thank you for entrusting your children to us - we see each as a blessing. May God bless you this summer season.
All the best,
Patti Culbreth

We wish them well and look forward to seeing them back at Holy Cross when they have time for visits!
Thank You!
From International Day in September to Field Da y on June 4, the elementary staff would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers. Parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, friends, and neighbors make our elementary school the warm, wonderful place that it is. Field trips, special lunches, library events, classroom helpers, PTO folks, surprise treats in the teachers' lounge, gifts at the holidays and year's end, and much more are all possible because of YOU! Have a happy summer and we will see you in August!

I Love My Family Essay Winner
Each ye ar our Holy Cross 4th graders write an essay on why they love their family. The contest is held by the Presbyterian Homes & Family Services and the Family Alliance. This year the winner from our class was Grayson Bryant. At the awards ceremony on May 27th, Grayson was one of three students who were chosen to read their essays aloud to a group of 200 family members and teachers. Way to go Grayson!
E-Crossette Schedule
The E-Crossette is normally published on Sundays during the school year. We will be taking a break but will send out editions as news develops throughout the summer. Weekly publication will resume in August. Happy Summer!

SUMMER READING 2014- 'ICE CREAM FOR BOOKS'-
Summer has begun and it's time for fun! But make sure that you include your summer reading in that fun! Keep that brain sharp to prevent the "summer slide". For elementary students, here are the goals:
Students entering Pre-K through 2nd grade- Read 15 books over the summer. (Chapter books= 2)
Students entering 3rd-5th grade: Read 350 pages over the summer.
Document your reading on the log that was sent home last week, and then turn it into your teacher the first week of school! You will be invited to our "Fabulous Fifties" party on September 5th.
****HELP IS NEEDED FOR SEPTEMBER 5TH! Contact me if you can help that day or donate an item/food. hmain@hcfaculty.com
LIBRARY DATA-BASE ON RENWEB
We have just finished loading the database from the Holy Cross Elementary Library on to RenWeb, and we hope to load the high school database soon. What this means for you is that you will be able to search for books we have from your home computer or anywhere when you are logged in to RenWeb. To view the database, log in to your Renweb account and click on Student Information. Then click on Library, then Library Book List. You then click on Visit Library Search Website.
Or to view the database from your browser without having to log into Renweb, go to:

ACCELERATED READER QUIZZES
Students who are able to take an A.R. quiz independently may come in during office hours and take one in the elementary library. I will also send a RenWeb e-mail when I plan to be at school during the summer for folks who may need a little help taking quizzes. It's best if students can take a quiz as soon as possible after finishing a book!
