Uniform Sale  

Mark your calendar now for Wednesday, July 16 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. - a representative from Flynn and O'hara will be in the school cafeteria for uniform orders.  We will also have used uniform items for sale.  For more information, contact cmosley@hcfaculty.com.

 

PLANNING TO PLAY SPORTS IN THE 2014-15 SCHOOL YEAR?  MS/HS Athletes who plan to play sports at HC next year need to have a physical before beginning the school year.  You can plan your physical NOW -- physicals performed from May 20 through the summer will count for the full school year.  Don't delay -- beat the back to school rush.  Plan for your athletic physical today!  See Mr. Mitchell if you have questions.

LOST AND FOUND!  We will have tables set up in the lobby next week with all the items from our lost and found.  Please take time to check if something belongs to you!  We will have the tables set up Tuesday through Friday.  After Friday, items will be donated to our Clothing Bin (in the parking lot).

ASBESTOS REPORT:  After extensive training by the Diocese and the state, Mr. Ron Farringer serves as our building inspector for asbestos.  A recent inspection in May shows we have no concerns regarding asbestos in the building.  We will continue to hold a thorough inspection every six months and report our status to the state and Diocese.  Reports are on file in Mr. Farringer's office for review at any time.

A Shout Out to:
Alexandra Casker who has been accepted into the Chatham Hall's Summer Investigators Program.  The program is a two week all-girl Math, Science and Technology program.  Applicants are evaluated by their teachers and school officials on their critical, problem solving and abstract reasoning skills, work ethic, leadership qualities and other traits that make them unique.  Congratulations Alexandra! 

 

 

Key Club News: 

---Thank you to Tracey Dixon, Executive Director for the Lynchburg Daily Bread, for stopping by after school on Monday, May 19th to share stories of how much the Key Club has helped the guests by making sandwiches, helping on one Sunday a month, and by the various items we have collected throughout the year. Her stories were moving and opened our eyes even more to the great need in our community.  To serve others is what being a Christian is all about.

---Our last day to make sandwiches during the school year will be on Tuesday, May 27th.  Please plan to send in supplies and/or help!

---We are planning one more day of service at the Lynchburg Daily Bread on Sunday, June 8th, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  We need volunteers to help, so please let me know if anyone in your family would like to assist.  Middle School students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them.

---I will try to keep the sandwiches going during the summer, but I will need people to make them and send in supplies.  If anyone wants to get involved in any way, then let me know.  Supplies and helpers will be needed.  Also, I would like additional adults to help supervise the sandwich making process during the summer and into the next school year.  [Must be VIRTUS certified]

See's Candy Easter Fundraiser a Great Success!

Our HC  NHS and NJHS raised almost $504 this spring.  Thank you HC community for your support.  The funds have been donated to the charity, LivOnFoundation.  This foundation was started by a former Holy Cross Alum, LT Naples, to help her sister, Olivia Naples(also an alum), to help her fight colon cancer.  It grants monetary awards to 'younger' folks who develop colon cancer .  It is also an educational site about the disease.  THANKS!

 

 

Consumer Convention has been an opportunity for 7th graders to develop, design, and conduct an investigation, and then present their results in the form of an abstract and backboard, without undergoing the stress of science fair judging.  They use the scientific method to conduct an investigation to discover the answer to a scientific problem. The themes for the projects involve comparisons between or among three or more brands of a particular product.

Volunteer Luncheon
The Holy Cross Faculty and Staff greatly appreciate the support of our many volunteers.  Whether helping in the cafeteria, sewing costumes for the play, driving to our various events, baking, reading, coaching or tutoring, we appreciate all that our volunteers do each day to make our school run smoothly.

If you volunteer at Holy Cross, we want to

Summer Camps 
HCRS will be hosting several camps this summer and also partnering with several organizations on other fun activities.
