Jr. FIRST LEGO League Teams Win Regional Awards

Nineteen Holy Cross Elementary students have been hard at work over the last two months, working on their Jr. FIRST LEGO League (Jr. FLL) projects. On April 26, they presented their LEGO projects at the fourth annual Lynchburg Regional Junior FIRST LEGO League Expo at Liberty Christian Academy.  The theme was "Disaster Blaster," and the students showed what they had learned about severe weather. Our LEGO Stars won the "Perfect Presenters" award, while our LEGO Monsters captured the "Terrific Teamwork" prize.

Jr. FLL captures young children's inherent curiosity and directs it toward discovering the wonders of science and technology. Jr. FLL features a real-world challenge, solved by research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, student teams work with LEGO elements and moving parts to build ideas and concepts and present them for review. Many thanks to parents Renee Rowland and Maureen Sheedy-Morris who coached our teams!
