Key Club News:

---Thank you for all of the wonderful donations of bread, peanut butter, and jam!!  We don't need any supplies at this time, but I will let you know when we are running low again.

---The Daily Bread was also very grateful for the baby supplies that were sent in for the lady who is due to have her baby boy in March! She was overwhelmed by your generosity.

---Our next day to make sandwiches after school for the Lynchburg Daily Bread will be Tuesday, 2-25-14. Please let me know if your child would like to help. [5th grade through 12th may assist]
---We are now taking names for volunteers for our next Sunday to serve at the Daily Bread--March 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Middle school students may help, but a parent MUST volunteer with them. Please let me know if anyone in your family would like to help!!

---If you have any children, teen, or young adult books that are gently used which you would like to donate--we are collecting books for the children who visit the Daily Bread. Many are not blessed to have books in a "home library", and we all know how important books are in a child's life.  Please help us by cleaning out your closets and book shelves, and sending in any books you would like to find new homes for!

Teaching Problem-Solving to Kids with Books!

Holy Cross Regional Catholic School is bringing national award-winning children's author and parenting expert Julia Cook back to Lynchburg on Tuesday, March 4. She will speak to the elementary students and perform an in-service for our teachers during the day. That night, at 7 p.m., Holy Cross School joins Amazement Square and Given's Books & Little Dickens in hosting a public event with Julia Cook at the Amazement Square Warehouse, next to the Museum at 27 Ninth Street.

At the evening event, Cook will speak on
Books That Make  A Positive Difference!
Bibliotherapy in Actionan entertaining discussion on the use of her storybooks to offer children and adults a fun way to learn important problem-solving and people skills.  She will talk about tackling problems such as tattling, interrupting, personal safety, risk taking, peer pressure, bullying and even nose picking through active learning. Parents and educators can walk away with ideas that they can really use!  The event is free and open to the public.  Our students will serve as ushers.  Please feel free to invite your friends and contacts as this is a great way to also highlight Holy Cross School!  Do know that seating will be limited.

Time for Re-registration!null

It's that time of year again! You will find below and in Renweb all the materials to make your child's re-registration simple and easy.  In this packet, you will find updated information regarding re-registration, tuition, fees,  and financial aid.  Please make sure to return your form and payment to Director of Enrollment Catherine Mosley as soon as possible as we use our spring enrollment numbers to make decisions about programming and staffing.  Families who have previously registered through FACTS must complete their 2014-15 school year applications by March 1.  New families, self-employed families, and families with business income must complete their applications by June 1.

Support HC with Scrip
Scrip is a program that allows you to help HC while making your normal purchases.  When you purchase a shopping card through the Scrip program, a percentage is given back to our school.  Go to glscrip.com to see all of the participating vendors.

A Scrip Testimonial from Julia Wingfield
"I like to use Walmart scrip cards for the simplicity.  I can swipe my card like cash and not be facing a big credit card bill at the end of the month.  But the best part is I am helping the school!"

Yearbook Ads are available to any and all families who want to recognize their children from PK through 12th grade.  A personalized ad will make this memory- filled book even more special for you and your student.  Please click on the link below or look under Resource Documents in Renweb for the form to download, or contact Julia Wingfield at wingfield_j@hcrs-va.org to reserve your ad space today!
